The 18-year-old telecommunica- tions major eyes sparkled with sur- prise when her name was called by master of ceremonies Terry Isaacs. She was sponsored by the Press Club, and is the daughter of Shirley Frehulfer of Lubbock. Tammi commented that she was surprised just to be one of the seven finalists, let alone win the competi- tion. “All | really wanted was to be among the seven finalists, and still can not choosen,” Caprock. First runner-up was Pamela Neal a really believe | was stated the 1983 Miss freshman from Whiteface. Pamela is an accouting major and was spon- sored by the Office Education Association. Kathey Wilkes, a freshman from Meadow, was named second runner- up. She was sponsored by Gillespie Hall and is a Biology major. Third runner-up was Kimberly Wright, a freshman fashion merchan- dising major. She was sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The other three finalists included Christy Champion, a freshman from Littlefield; Jamie Johnson a freshman from Levelland; and Judy Robles a freshman also from Levelland. A total of 29 women com- peted in the pageant. (Finalists are pictured above)

Za Miss Frehulfer was crowned by Sonnya Nance of Plains,the reigning Miss Caprock, before a crowd of more than 300 people in the Theatre for the Performing Arts. =a
