On May 5, 1958 the Levelland Daily Sun News’ lead story read, “A fabulous agricultural and petroleum region, which in the span of 37 brief years has sprung from the vast empty ranch country of the fading old west, enters a new era in 1958 with the establish- ment of South Plains College at Levelland.” This year is South Plains College’s 25th anniversary. Our anniversary slogan--“Silver Horizons” signifies the idea of reviewing the past, while looking forward to serving the South Plains’ citizens in the next quarter century.
