26 Home Sweet Home The few, the proud, the dormies. It’s not easy being a college stu- dent. | mean now really, the obstacles that the average college student has to go through just in the dorm would make even a marine proud. Let me explain just One aspect of the life of a typical resident of, oh, well, Lamar Hall. The morning starts of with the gentle sounds of AC-DC echoing softly off the cold walls at 7 a.m. in the beautiful morning (courtesy of the room next door). Instantly the eyelids explode open, exposing the eyes to the harsh rays of the sun shining through the window. Next comes the argument between the inhabitants to see who gets the first cold shower. After the shower the occupants practice hand-to- hand combat for the use of the sink. Once the dressing ritual is completed, it is off to breakfast and (if not already late) class. Seriously, that is just a small part of the the adventure that is called dorm life. There are other aspects like the life long friends, the ever so sweet dorm moms, the outrageous fun, and alas, even the studying. All of these are parts of the greatest college experience-- the dorm adventure.

After high school, she attended North Texas State University in Denton for three summers, and then transferred to Texas Tech where she received her AB, BA, and PhD, all in English. Mrs. Anne Bulls has’ been teaching music here for 25 years. “When we started, the college had 13 on the faculty. The college has really changed.” said Mrs. Bulls. ‘| have really enjoyed my work here, for we serve a special need that gets students into the college years.” “. .. | came here from Pennsylvania, and the college was just a group of small buildings in the middle of a cotton patch. A lot of changes have taken place, and | have enjoyed them all.” three years, then transferred to SPC in 1968, and retired in 1983. After completing her teaching career, Dale and her husband spend their summers at their cabin f Service at Cloudcroft, New Mexico and traveling. While not at their cabin or on the road, Dale spends every spare minute painting, which is her favorite passtime.
