ly by Yuvette Paynes Sixteen young ladies were nominated by various clubs and organizations for the title “‘Woman of the Year.” Sophomore Penny Chaney, an Accounting major from Paducah, was chosen for the honor. All nominees were recognized at the Women’s Recognition Banquet, which was held at 6:30 p.m. on April 5 at the Baptist Student Union. Nominees must have shown ser- vice and loyalty to SPC, participated and contributed to student activities, scholastic ability, ability to work with people, and good character. Miss Chaney, nominated by Frazier Hall, received a gift and her name was put on a plaque with all other previous recipients of the honor. The plaque was presented to Miss Chaney by Dean of Women, Mrs. Carol Long. The plaque will be placed on display in the Marvin L. Baker Center. 7 Penny Chaney: 1 Women of the Year
