Administrative Staff Financial Aids Jerry Barton Mr. Jerry Barton, director of financial aids here on campus is a graduate of South Plains College. He re- ceived his associates degree in Business Administra- tion from South Plains, and a Bachelors degree from Texas Tech. He expects to receive his Master's degree in May, 1972. He was first employed by South Plains College in July 1969. His jobs include securing loans, grants, or jobs for students. He supervises the Work study and non-Work study programs. Mr. Barton and his Wife Mary Beth have a boy and a girl. Scott, nine years old and Robin, five years old. Administrative Staff Director of Student Activities Thomas R. Selman Responsibility for planning, directing and su- pervising the Student Activity Program of South Plains College rests with Director of Student Ac- tivities Tom Selman. The program now involves more than 60 per cent of the SPC student body and is growing in both quantity and quality. Mr. Selman is currently in his third year as a junior college Student Activity Director. In addition to the activity program he also teaches classes in state and national government and serves as the faculty advisor to the Student Senate, Circle K. Kadettes, and Young Democrats Club. Among Mr. Selman's interest are politics, reading and traveling. He has an extensive col- lection of political and campaign memorabilia. He has attended Henderson County Junior Col- lege, North Texas State University, The Univer- sity of Texas at Austin, SMU, and The Universi- ty of Minnesota. This summer he Will complete the requirements for a Master's degree in Coun- seling and Student Personnel Services in Higher Education and will resume Work on the Ph.D. in Political Science. He is a member of numerous professional and honorary societies in both politi- cal science and student personnel Work. Assisting Mr. Selman in the Student Activity Office and the Student Union Building are Mike Box, a SPC graduate who supervises the Stu- dent Union recreational facilities, Larry Hines, a SPC graduate and Texas Tech senior who Works as evening supervisor of the Student Union. Three SPC sophomore students also Work in the Student Activity Office in secretarial, cleri- cal, and assistant capacities - they are John Hammerle, Annette Simon, and Nancy Sanders. In addition freshman Debbie Hammerle also Works in the office. Student employees in the Student Union in- clude Louis Delarosa, Malachi Wiggins, Glenn Rebber, John Holmes, and James Wall. In addition Mr. Selman states that he is as- sisted by a large number of student volunteer Workers who drop by the office to assist in any possible way. The Student Activity Office is always open to any student who has recommendations to make, needs assistance of any kind, or who just Wants a place to visit and talk. Thomas R.
