6 Tournament In Dome One Of Toughest In Nation December 2, 3, 4 South Plains host- ed in Texan Dome one of the toughest junior college tournaments in the na- tion. The very respectable competi- tion included junior college power house San Jacinto from Pasadina, Texas, St. Gregory's from Oklahoma, Cochise from Arizona and the Texans. South Plains Won one out of three in the stiff competition. The Texans downed St. Gregory's 104-95. The tourney play left SPC with a 10-3 season record and a 84-62 win over the West Texas State Freshmen the next Week gave the Orange an 11-3 record to begin the conference title race. i il

Texans Win Homecoming, Fall To Texas Homecoming '71 was a route for the Texans as they rolled over the New Mexico Military Institute cadets 120-61. This was also the first conference game of the year for the Texans and the 12th victory of the year. Seven Texans hit in double figures in the easy Win. George Pannell with 17 points edged out Tom Jordan with 16 for high scoring honors. Robert O'Neal connected for 14, Tom Bailey hit 12, Mark La- Croix, 11g Rushie Moore, 11, and Terry John- ston, 10. Next, the Texans from South Plains College journeyed to Austin to battle the University of Texas Freshmen. The Shorthorns won the con- test, 77-60. 'U V
