The leading scorers were jim lnsel with 13 points per game, and Bob Geary with 10 points per game. Matt Frederickson and Clifford Vessels joined Geary in leading assists. Tom jackson, Mike Minarck, and jim lnsel were the top rebounders. juniors Doug Smith, Cedric Casey, joe Scarpitto and Mike Sikanowicz added much experi- ence to the Tiger team. jerry Lanza and jeff Licato contributed their best efforts as stated by Coach Skillman. The 1976-77 South Plainfield Freshman Basketball record 'was 7 wins and 12 losses. As a smooth- dribbling team guard Scott Freder- ickson led the team in scoring C224 pts.J and blocked shots to go along with his 10.6 scoring average. jack Grisley handed out 81 assists in only 14 games. jamie LaSasso made very important contrib- utions in scoring 410.4 ppgj, and rebounding f129j. As a first year player, Kenny Kaladas was selected Most Improved Player because he was 3rd in rebounding l97j and 4th in scoring f137j. Armand Pizza f84j and Kevin Flan- nery L550 shooting pct.j provided most of the bench strength all sea- son. lt looks as though the future at S.P.H.S. is good.

Q Ken Laverne, a senior, threw the shot-put 49'5 which was 8 less than the school record. l Weafher Qforms Winfer Track This year the Winter Track Team completed a short and disappointing season due to the weather. Although they only competed in one dual meet, which they lost, they were filled with enthusiasm and spirit. However, the team did compete in the Middlesev- county Relays at Lawrenceville. They also competec in the State Group Meet at Princeton. There were only two seniors on this year's team Ken LaVerne was the shot-putter. He threw the shot a distance of 49'5 , which was only 8 off the schoo record. The other senior was Frank Malecki, who also did a fine job for the team. Next year with four underclassmen returning, the future of the winter track program at S.P.H.S. looki great.
