Fine Arf One has only to walk down the Fine Arts corridor to see the talent at work there. Many students have won special recog- nition this year. Pam Phillips, a junior, won honorable mention for her oil painting of a snow-covered city in the NJ. State P.T.A. Cul- tural Arts Exhibit in Atlantic City. Francine Martinkovic, a sen- ior, was a finalist in the NJ, Ceramic League Exhibit for her ceramic free-form sculpture of an abstract head. Karen McCleary, also a senior, won first place honors for her paint- ings and drawings of horses in the Circle M Horse Show Asso- ciation competitioni Ginny Genova, a sophomore has com- pleted several outstanding paintings including one of dau- phinsjumping out of water. Vocal music students Deidre Berry, a soprano, Karen Wal- ter, an alto, Bill Keefer, a tenor, and Brad Fitzsimmons, a bass, were members of the All-State Chorus, section leaders, and featured soloists in the Christmas Concert. Band soloist Rob- ert Vastano has been in Region ll All-State Band for four years, has played first chair trumpet for three years, has won two New York Brass Conference Scholarships, and has played in summer stock band. Also a featured soloist, Anthony Zajac has been in Region II All-State Band for four years and has played first clarinet for four years. Many students can be proud of their accomplishments. ln metal shop David Lombardi, a junior, designed a chess set made entirely of metal, using handmade dies. Chris johnson built a unibalance to hold large objects up in the air for welding. Frank lankowski created a floor crane to lift engines out of cars. Woodworking classes saw beautiful pieces of fine furniture come alive, lohn Dratz made a double dresser, Dave Ringel, a roll-top desk, Mark Zelinski, a double wall unit, and Donald Miglis, a tressel desk. Service-oriented power mechanics had three especially talented stu- dents - Steve McGill, Kenneth McKight, and Michael Wance, Particularly skilled in mechanical drawing, Patty Dunay designed floor plans for her own house, Larry Rothweiler excelled in basic drawing. Graphic Arts printing and photography projects were community minded. Ronald Sepanak created and displayed a photo show in school. Kim Cirigliano and Nancy Zmuda worked on a womens club newsletter. Richard Bozzo and Gary Rice printed a monthly publication for the laycees. The Spring Fashion Show gave home economics students opportunity to model clothes designed and created during the year. New courses Bachelor Living and International Cooking and Gourmet added popular dimensions to the homemaking curriculum. fm 1 ....o k :M it f if xp...
