Lawrence Cashioli Coordinator Jacqueline Angioletti N.. English Variety sparked the English curriculum, coordinated by Mr. Lawrence Cashioli. ln addition to classic studies in American, British and world literature, students had the chance to whet their interests in such areas as film making, journalism, modern communications media, research, science fiction, and speech and dramatic arts. Emphasis on interpretive reading, clear thinking, and effective expression characterized all courses. Remedial and develop- mental reading programs employed latest techniques to build reading skills. Projects complimented many classes. Young filmmakers pro- duced animated films, camerless films, and slide-tape presenta- tions. They also created scenes for documentaries and short fic- tional films. Outstanding English students were seniors Lennard Grabow- ski, Dianne Alberino, Ann Alcaro, Barbara Geurts, and Sharon Mazauskas, juniors Margaret Cotoia, Don Carrier, Leslie Barg, Eric johnson, and Sue Braynock, Sophomores Vince Thomas, Mark Partika, Ken Abbott, Marylane McLean, and Mary Hogang and freshmen loe Salerno, Mary Grady, Pat Green, Dave Millar and Andrea Rea. Such courses as calculus, math analysis, geometry, algebra, and computer programming gave students opportunities to view figures from varied 'N angles. The Computer Programming course taught by Mr. Vatalare was unique in that the school is one of a few in the area to own its own terminal and computer. A new computer installed last january has increased the efficiency of the programming. Some of the outstanding math students through the year have been Larry Rothweiler, Georg Viola, Lennard Crabowski, Donna VanHaren, David Millar, and Eric Machat. . Qqmiuwd
