Fencing Team Under the instruction of Mr. Arthur Hertsfeld, the fencing team will attempt to capture its seventh title in its fourteen year hist-ory. lt is seen by this record, that Southern has always been Well represented by its fencing troupe. With all but one of the starting tearn retained, and the remaining mem- bers of the team well drilled in this art, the team is well on its way toward its eighth title. With these experienced foilman as Marshioni, Titomer, Levin and Tomar, Southern is surely well representated in the league. Fencing is said to be the fundamental prerequisite of bayonet drill, box- ing, and wrestling. The position of the feet in fencing gives the balance so necessary in these activities. Ban The band under the masterful supervision cf Iay Speck has done much both at home games and at away games to spur our football teams to victory Tutored by Mr King it has acquired the ability to drill Because of this ability its fine music and excellent red black and gold uniforms the band is anxious to be known outside the school and is desirous of participat ing in community affairs Topping off its many features the Southern band looks forward to having a color guard in the very near future 48 I I I 1 . , - 1 1 1 1 1 ' 1
