Miss Lauer was the first teacher from SP-SM to be given the honor. Miss Mary jo Sowards also traveled hy plane to the East. She accompanied Gretchen Koosnian to XVashington. D. C., where Gretchen's Proiect, Molds lfrom Soil was entered in the Science Fair. They were gone for a week in May. VVhen Nliss Lorraine Davis and Mrs. Lucille Linn were unable to continue teaching clothing and typing respectively, Mrs. Annabelle lirickson and Miss Mary Lou Kelly substituted for them for the remainder of the school year.
