oice of lemocracy The Voice of Democracy Contest is intended as a procedure enabling and encouraging high school young people to think about our system of govern- ment, to weigh the blessings and opportunities of this system, and to speak affirmatively on its behalf. From such participation, they can learn more about the ground rules of our way of life and be better prepared to take up the responsibilities of their maiority. This youth is our insurance that demo- cratic form of government will continue. This year Gary Shute and Joan Weeks were chosen respective first and second place winners 'from a group of some sixty contestants. ledafing The purpose of the newly-formed Debating Club at Paris is to broaden the speech offerings of the high school. Debate can be invaluable to the future Democratic citizen as it teaches one to get at the facts of a matter, to learn to detect faulty reason- ing, and to respond constructively with precision in a medium of o r g a n iz e d discussion and perusasion. 3 moulin o.fysm.n-wah,w.nuhq.
