We were twenty- one in number until several gave up their basic training and sought a new goal. During the year we took our stand as the sponsor of two social activities. The first was a Harvest Dance and the second was a skating party on the ponds of the local fish hatchery with Mr. Merchant on the' bank yelling, nG6t your hot dogs heres only five centstn After a ten week leave we again assembled as Lieutenant Commanders under the command of Vice Admiral John E. Cox. At this time we found that several of our sailors had dropped from the ranks and new ones had joined. Betty LaRock was discharged and went into a defense industry, Ruby Dinwiddie was transferred to the training station in Oneida, New York, and,Char1es Lapuszynski and Kenneth,wh1te'were discharged and con- tinued on another path of life. Margery Wilcox was transferred from Cazenovia to this station and in January Dorine Bauder was transferred from Norwich. During this year we sponsored a pre-Thanksgiving Dance which proved to be an over-estimation of naval power. In June we were all given ten week leaves and again assembled in September under the rank of Commanders with Vice Admiral Harriet Sartwell as adviser. The main feature of this year of training is this edition of our annual Hcentraliann.
