Our social activities started February 21 with our Hvicu dance. Karch ll we sponsored a dance with the Yorgan Raiders.and again on April 5 we enjoyed the same orchestra at our Pre-Easter dance. The greatest accomplishment of our senior year, however, was the presentation of our two one-act plays under the direction of Mr. Tinker. The rehearsals of nSparkin'n and NThe Blue Teapotu proved to be loads of fun. On April l with shaky knees and jitter- bug nerves, we presented them to almost a full house. We want to thank our teachers, parents, and friends who have patronized our social occasions and we extend our best wishes to the Juniors in the publication of the yearbook. We were twenty- one in number until several gave up their basic training and sought a new goal. During the year we took our stand as the sponsor of two social activities. The first was a Harvest Dance and the second was a skating party on the ponds of the local fish hatchery with Mr. Merchant on the' bank yelling, nG6t your hot dogs heres only five centstn After a ten week leave we again assembled as Lieutenant Commanders under the command of Vice Admiral John E. Cox. At this time we found that several of our sailors had dropped from the ranks and new ones had joined. Betty LaRock was discharged and went into a defense industry, Ruby Dinwiddie was transferred to the training station in Oneida, New York, and,Char1es Lapuszynski and Kenneth,wh1te'were discharged and con- tinued on another path of life. Margery Wilcox was transferred from Cazenovia to this station and in January Dorine Bauder was transferred from Norwich. During this year we sponsored a pre-Thanksgiving Dance which proved to be an over-estimation of naval power. In June we were all given ten week leaves and again assembled in September under the rank of Commanders with Vice Admiral Harriet Sartwell as adviser. The main feature of this year of training is this edition of our annual Hcentraliann. Many of the boys were new to the varsity, as many of the stars of last year had changed their uniforms of orange and black for those of khaki or navy blue. V Despite the inexperience and the small size of the team, South Otselic came through to a fine showing at the end of the season. Bowing to a much larger, more experienced, New Berlin team in the Chenango County Tournament with a 46-45 score, the boys showed a brand of basketball they can well be proud of and also displayed promising prospects for another year.
