Through these twenty-nine years the growth of this association has been steady and constant. We report this year a membership of over three hundred active members. The President of the association is a messenger from the association to the faculty, and by a close contact with the latter learns the needs of the various departments of the schoolg then she turns the responsibility of the work to the respective departments. 'l There are six departments in the organization with chairmen under the super- vision of each department head. The departments are as follows: l QU Organization Department which is supervised by Mrs. S. Hetherington. The department's duty is to take all responsibility concerning the membership, com- munication, service, courtesy, and transportation of the club. QZJ Program Service Department whose head is Mrs. NW. A. Leeper. This de- partment's duty is to provide for the year book, entertainments, refreshments, prografms, and decorations. 135 Public Welfare Department which is supervised by Mrs. Whipker. This department's duty is to make decisions concerning the juvenile Protection, Girls' Stu- dent Loan and Thrift, and Adamson Loan Fund. 141 Educational Department is supervised by Mrs. R. F. Henderson. This de- partment's duty is to promote and sponsor art, music, R. O. T. C., scholarship, and library work. fij Health Department is directed by Mrs. S. Cogburn. This department's duty is to sponsor athletics, social and student hygiene, and physical education in the school. f6j Efficiency Department is supervised by Mrs. C. C. Jones. The duty of this department is to take care of finances, house and ground problems, magazines, and matters of publicity. As a result of the function of each department the various phases of the school work are properly cared for. The girls and boys of high school age certainly need unlimited help through counselors, guides, and real friends, and the Oak Cliff High School and its organiza- tions fill this necessity. Ability to guide wisely at this time is a real test of parent- hood. The High School Parent-Teacher Association can be made a clearing house for ideas in developing the character and growth of youth. This organization endeavors to assist parents who are poorly acquainted with the aims of the many interesting educational activities of the modern high school. We stress the co-operation between the school and the home in daily study preparation. We strive to have our school head the list of the six high schools in the city by reduc- ing the number of absentees and tardies. One of our two outstanding objectives is to promote scholarship among the stu- dent body. This phase of ouriwork is emphasized in our meetings and through the co-operation of the teachers. Our association endeavors to increase the members of the Scholarship Club by giving parties and entertainments for those who achieve the honor of membership in the club. We offer a cash prize to the underclassman who attains the highest average for each semester. Another of our main objectives is to supervise the welfare work in the school. This work is being promoted through the continued co-operation of Miss Graves with the Parent-Teacher Association. With the zeal and energy already manifested in the past by the faculty, student body, and parents there is all evidence that the work of the association can attain a still higher level. The Dads' Club in Oak Cliff High is a very active organization which works for the, welfare of the school. There are fifty-one active members in the club. i .if We O0
