ICUBANK The Parent-Teacher Jssociation 1927-1928 H'- 1 ,Rh the Oak Cliff Iarent-Teacher Association roll called, to be answered by the good deeds done in the name of the organization, each member would score one hundred per cent on the marvelous achievements of the year. The aim of the Parent-Teacher group during the session has been to solve some of the problems affecting student life, Which has created a fuller sympathy between parent and teacher. It aimed, more- over, to support heartily the program of the school, supplement- ing wherever it might for a greater development of the school program. Finally it has Worked to that end Where principal, teachers, and pupils may know that the organization stands ready to co-operate with them in their many activities. In a Word, the association has made a great effort to accomplish its aim, and in every Way lit harmoniously into the Work of the school in a helpful manner. Never before has the Association Membership been so large. Never before have the teachers scored one hundred per cent in membership, a fact which is stimulating to the organization, for it has made possible a genuine Parent-Teacher Association. And never before has there been a more unselhsh, untiring, courageous president than Mrs. Charles C. jones, under whose leadership the association has Worked. At each meeting of the month a lecture by representative men and women has been presented, carrying out a program of sub- jects on the Psychology of the High School student, as suggested by the Dallas Council of Parents and Teachers. Moreover, the association has functioned in a helpful manner towards the various activities of the school. About fIOO0.00 has been disbursed in meeting the needs and demands of the school. The entire membership expresses its appreciation for the hearty co-operation of the teachers and the kindly counsel of the Principal, Mr. Adamson. RE ET IN G S from P.-FI . IIONVARD ALLEN Our Boys of the Blue and IVhite ' By ROY PENDER Side by side for OAK CLIFF HIGH Three cheer leaders are stretching their hands to t They are leading a cheer for that grand old school VVhere honor and justic have always held rule. Here's Virgil Pope-who has the rep Of filling the students with hilarious pep. Right here I'll say with my upenciled tongue, He has-what I would call-a leather lung. Then there's Jimmie Cole-an Indian seems tame Compared with his war-hoops at a football game. Our hopes of victory have often seemed gray, But our leaders of cheer have turned many a day. Now our third man is one who I can say Is good at chasing the blues away. He's Clinton jones-you'll remember his name As one held high in cheer leading fame. Remember students-in future life It's cheer that conquers all in the strife. SAD BUT TRUE . He was the senior favorite. All the girls were crazy about him and he was constantly run aftern. During the year, he attended every party and dance--rated with all the girls and was considered a regular guy by the boys. His parents had informed him that he would be given a ear for graduatitin-what a lueky boy he wasl Examinations for the Seniors were in full swing, and our ufriendl' always came out from them smiling. Hex moved to the window on the opposite side of the room. Thinking there was some one over there, I rushed to the door and quietly pushed it'open. My breath was gone-I could do nothing-he raised his arm-the dagger glittered in the dim light-he gradually let his arm down and stabbed-stabbed-a -a-mosquitoll 9 9 9 IVIIIIY Unk Clif High wonlrl lm wiflmzzt- Prof. Smith and his cutersl'? But it is near- ly always the result of years of labor and patient effort. This point was the cause of the famous mis- understanding between VVhistler, the artist, and John Ruskin. You asked a thousand pounds for one hour's Work! Yes,,' said VVhistler, abut it took a lifetime of stud to learn how. Y Om' mfzgzwizzfaliam fo the Crufz'1mlff nf 1928!
