Stella Lyons and Bill The time to hesitate is through, Try now we can only lose, Cause the future's uncertain, And the end is always near, Can you picture what will be? So limitless and free? I, Ann-Maarit (Ann), come from Finland, a neutral republic in Scandinavia. Finland's population is 4.9 million people. Finland is known as the country of a Thousand Lakes and The Midnight Sun. We have over 63,000 lakes in Finland and sum- mer nights are as light as days. Finland is also famous for its wood industry, glass, ship building, skiing, and of course for the sauna which is a tradition among Finns. I, Beryl, come from Sweden. It is a republic in northern Eu- rope between Finland and Norway. The population is 8 million people. Sweden is known for being a neutral country and having persons like Bjorn Borg, Ingemar Stenmark, and the Nobel prize. The nature in Sweden is very beautiful with lakes rivers and woods. We also have long summer nights and in northern Sweden we have the Midnight Sun. This year has been quite an experience and we have got a lot of new friends. SNB is a nice little town with the beautiful hills around. We will miss you all. Don't forget us and keep in touch. —Ann Beryl Beryl L.J. Silven 19 The SNB Senior Class Presents “TheMagic Touch” A COMEDY IN 3 ACTS Bobbette is a tomboy who plays football with the Dirty Dozen a sloppy lovable, and laughable bunch. Mother, wants her to be a young lady. Mother arrives home with the Fashion Show committee to find the Dirty Dozen in her living room and Dad hanging laundry all over the place. Frieda Fisher changes the Dirty Dozen ' from a rough-and-ready football team to a clean, lovesick bunch of dandies. Bobbette decides all is lost and drops out of sight, leaving her parents, the Dirty Dozen, and even the police running around in circles. Flow she returns to solve her problems, rescue the Dirty Dozen, and win top honors at the Fashion Show makes a suspenseful third act. 20 21 Life experience a passing day, time will witness what ole folks say, Fairy tales and stories that we fail to see. We will tell the story of our reality. Timing is the healer, our mentor, and the fire Trusting every word, just what has been handed down in time. Can you tell me why? —Earth, Wind Fire R. Adams B. New Berlin team claims 1982 trial tournament title SOUTH NEW BERLIN - A nine-member team from South New Berlin, coached by Stephen Dunshee, defeated Greene on both sides of the question to win the Chenango County Bar Association’s 1982 inock trial tournament. The Southtown team survived a field of seven county schools, beating Greene by a single point in a preliminary round while arguing the defense, and then winning again in the finals while arguing for the plaintiff. ..The two finalists met for the second time after eliminating challengers in the semi-finals with SdUthtown beating Bain- bridge-Guilford and Greene beating Sherbume-Earlville. The competition also in- cluded teams from Norwich, Oxford and New Berlin. The winning Southtown unit was composed of Becky White, Candy Howard, Holly Lewis, Kelly Wright, Helen Hamblett, Dan Morgan, Bill Henderson, Lorena Thomsen and Eva Thomsen. Jerald Hochsztein served as counsel for the unit. City Judge Howard Sullivan and Tom Vitanza served as judges for the preliminary and semi-finaf rounds, and County Judge Irad Ingraham judged the Southtown-Greene finals. The number of judges was purposely limited in order to preserve uniformity of scoring. The cases presented by student attorneys and wit- nesses involved the hypothetical case of Thomas Hudson (plaintiff) versus the Albany Dispatch (defen- dant). The plaintiff attempts to have the Albany Dispatch newspaper break its oath of confidentiality and release information in order to locate Hudson's son. The son had been abducted from the custodial father by his ex- wife and is in hiding. A team wins when it at- tains a higher score based on evaluation of attorneys’ opening and closing statements, direct and cross examination questions, understanding of trial procedures, witnesses’ credibility in charac- terizations, testimony and response to cross examination. Southtown was unbeaten in the county competition. 49 Senior Band 1: N. Thomsen, V. Dunham, C. Law, A. Greenberg, L. Barnes, J. Gridley, V. Stensland, S. Chapura, 2: E. Da- vis, M. Anderson, M.
