Donald G. Preston, Supervising Principal In America we believe that the primary purpose of education is education of the individual. The individual is educated in many ways and by many people other than teachers, parents and the clergy. Education does not stop with the classroom and the teacher, it goes on in all places. Throughout a person's life he or she is educated by the Influence of his peers. The members of the ball team, his bowling companions, the group at the corner store, members of the band, the Sunday school class, the group at the office, his summer playmates, all these have a strong influence upon a person's education. Every individual influences the education of his friends. And so it is important that we live clean, wholesome, well organized lives that will be a good example to all with whom we associate. Not every person can be a genius but everyone can be a lady or a gentleman. Best wishes to the class of 1961 and may you have the desire and the determination to make this a better world for yourself and others. 7
