Nancy Shaver Class Advisor........Mr. Flwood Fredrickson The Freshman Class of 1953 includes six girls and ten boys. Charlene McMullen and Clayton Walling were with us at the beginning of the year, but have since moved. Our Home Room teacher is Miss Genevieve Lilly. Our activities this year have been varied. We took an active part in the school’s first Winter Carnival, selling refreshments at the ball game and dance and; helping on decorations. We had a Fun House and Divorce Court at the Halloween Party. We have enjoyed our Freshman year and are now looking forward to being Sophomores. 10

One new member, Fdna Diamond, from Norwich. At Halloween time we sponsored a marriage court, which was run by Marcia Robinson, Weston, Utter, and Chris Thompsen. In January, our school had its first Winter Carnival. Our class made an image of a rabbit as our ice statue, and won first prize of a trophy of which we are very proud. Virginia Cady was chosen queen of the Winter B ll. Also in January, Marcia Robinson won the American Legion Oratorical Contest prize of $7. Her speech was on ‘‘The History Of The United:States Constitution.” Throughout basketball season, we had two cheerleaders and two players from our class. They were Jennie Beadle, and Virginia Cady--Junior Varsity Cheerlead- ers, and John Van Pelt, and Richard Sameuls--both for Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. 9
