On the Way up the Ladder In 19lj.O thirteen boys and six girls started the climb to become someday seniors. Mrs. Davenport was the teacher. Don White and Dick Meade are the only two, however, that stayed on to be graduated from South Town Central. The second year of school, with Miss Brown as teacher, started off with thirty pupils. Marian Holden came from Gilbertsville and stayed for the remaining eleven years. Two of the thirty classmates were not with the class on the third step. Mrs. Brooks was our teacher. In the fourth grade we had seventeen boys and seven girls under the direction of Kiss Shillabeer. Miss Shillabeer remained with us on the fifth step with thirteen boys and five girls. James Barney joined us in that year. There were fourteen members on the way up in sixth grade. Three did not go on. Mrs. Johnson was our teacher that year. The seventh step had in store for us a different teacher, Mrs. Dixson. There were twelve boys and four girls in this class. Mrs. Dixson remained with us for our last year in grade school. There were fifteen boys and six girls. The most memorable event occurring, in this year was our assembly, Davis's Muscle MenJ As freshman we were devils 1 We started the year off with fourteen members. During the year Joe Dowling and Albert Rowe left, and at the end of the year Lyle Sisson and Lynn Keator left. One of our present seniors came that year, Helen Norwood. Mr. Davis was our advisor. The sophomore year began with eleven members. Robert Schermerhorn and Ray Adams left us on our tenth step to the top. John Samuels and Leslie Gale came. Leslie left within a weekJ Mr. Prederickson was elected our advisor. During the year we had a marriage court for fun night. We also did a program for an assembly. Don White and Gage Barkley played varsity sports and Didk Meade and Dick Boise were junior varsity members. There were seven members on the next to the last step. Jill Clearo and Gage Barkley left. The most important event that year was the Prom. Helen Norwood was crowned queen and Dick Boise, king. Mr. Borden was our class advisor. Nine students began our year of 52. We gained two members, Lola Boulante and Fred Decker. We strived until March 25th to earn money for our trip to New York in May. John Samuels left for Binghamton High. We had a play, The Skeleton Walks , presented under the direction of Mr. Seymour. Since we didn't have enough people for the class play, the juniors helped us out. We had one assembly, consisting of a talk by Jim Barney about Boy's State; the rest of us were going to lead in songs, but Jim took advantage of having the floor and forgot us. Mr. Kirchner and Mr. Cousineau were our advisors for this year. It's been a long hard climb and we welcome the last step. THIS PAGE IS SPONSORED BY L. J. B. LUMBER SUPPLY CO.
