Journalism, speech, drama, grammar, and literature all come under the head- ing of English. Mr. Downs is the head of the English department, which has the most diversified program and greatest number of teachers of all the depart- ments. At least three years of English are re- quired for graduation. College-bound students must take four years of English. Tailored to the needs of the students, courses are presented for the slow and the fast students and, of course, the average students. Team-teaching, under the leadership of Mr. McGrath and Mrs. Lathrop, combines two or more classes together as one. Freshmen and iuniors were offered team-taught English classes this year.
