DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT Mr. Clifford F. Shambaugh SUPER! TE DE On June 30, 1961, Mr. Clifford Shambaugh ends many eventful years as the educational leader of the Downey Union High School District. With the inauguration on July l of the Downey Unified School District Mr. Shambaugh will remain in our schools in a position as yet unknown. We wish to take this oportunity to salute our super- intendent, whose outstanding leadership has helped the growth of our school community to become one of the foremost school districts in California. During Mr. Sham- baugh's incumbency Warren High and five iunior high schools have been added to what was once a one campus school district. As students of South we often fail to realize what time and effort goes into each day's study plan and the preparation of it. We should not look upon school and homework as a prosaic task but a privilege to obtain an education at South. Yes, with our administration, faculty, and students working together, South continues to better itself. On the administration page, Pierre is paint- ing an apple for the teacher as a symbol of our administration and faculty. tl l
