All girls participating in intramurals are members of the association which plans the intramural program and awards establishes policy for participation and awards, and arranges any playdays or sports events in the Girls' Physical Education program. During the past year at South Lewis, a Boys' Athletic Association was organized for the purpose of en- couraging athletic compeiition, advocating good sportsmanship and strengthening the school spirit toward athletics. In organizing the B. A. A. , the basic format upon which the G. A.A. was formed in 1963-64, was adopted. A Varsity Club was established whereby any student having earned a varsity letter could become a member. Two representatives of the Varsity Club were selected to serve with the officers of both the B. A. A. and G. A. A. of the Athletic Council. The basic ideals of athletic competition, sportsmanship, and spirit, incorporated in the B.A. A. we hope will develop to their fullest capacity at South Lewis as the years go by.
