. MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL To the Class of 1954: You have come to the aid of your high school course. Some can look back with satisfact- ion and pride for they know that one job has been well done. Others would rather forget their days in school, for it reveals wasted time and opportunity, Take courage: you are entering upon days of great progress and advancement. To those who lay hold on the future, she will grant a great reward. But one thing she asks, and that is toil and persistence in the future. In words of Henry Van Dyke: This is the gospel of labour, ring it, ye bells of the kirkl The Lord of Love came down from above, to live with the men who workg This the rose that He planted, here in the thorn-curst soil: Heaven is blest with perfect rest, but the blessing of Earth is toil.
