TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1959: lt is with pride and pleasure that I take this opportunity to congratulate you, the members of the twentieth class to be graduated from South Kortright Central School, Throughout the years your school has been working to bring our young people to this important milestone. As you leave here for the next phase of your lives, I sincerely hope that you will continue to enlarge upon those attributes which your teachers have instilled in you - especially the importance of vision in your work, One day during the construction of St. Paul's Cathedral in London Sir Christopher Wren, its architect, walked unrecognized among the workmen, He asked one man what he was doing and his reply was I am cutting a piece of stone. He asked a second man the same question and he answered 'I am earning five shilling twopence a day. However from a third man in answer to his inquiry he was told I am helping Sir Christopher Wren build a beautiful cathedral. This man truly had vision. I-le could see beyond the cutting of stone, beyond the eaming of his daily wage, to the creation of a work of art, namely the building of a great cathedral, Widening your horizons to see beyond the daily routine gives inspiration and value to your efforts. In order to be happy and gain a sense of achievement, I would add these further attributes to that of vision: faith, integrity, the ability to make wise choices, to get along well with others and to have an unquenchable desire to grow. Your school stands ready and willing to assist you in any way possible during these years ahead. My very best wishes to each of you. ' EDWARD A, BURKE
