CLASS HISTORY Twelve years ago we started out, forty three ln number, l1ttle realizing the excit1ng events which lay ln our pathway For elght years we to1led, lay1ng a groundwork for our high school days As we entered h1gh school we numbered forty four There were not many opportun1t1es to add to our treasury, wh1ch conslsted of a l1ttle dues money left from a book club 1n elghth grade However we were glven a hatcheck at one of the blg dances Eager for anythlng, we d1d not desplse small thlngs Durlng the followlng summer, Barbara Decker, one of our number, moved to Oregon Then we were sophomores and could hold our heads a llttle h1gher we were no longer the new ones 1n h1gh school We had lost some and ga1ned some and now numbered forty two Aga1n we d1d not sponsor money maklng projects that was for the junlors and sen1ors wh1ch we as pired to be before long In this second year of adventure we ga1ned a new member Donna Yarter Annette Sturgess left our number to go to a spec1al1zed school ln V1rg1nia Before we knew it, t1me had rolled around and we were JUn10IS numberlng a trlumphant thirty three We began by chooslng the fol1ow1ng off1cers Presldent Arthur Turn1er, V1ce Presldent R1chard Kathmann, Secretary Margaret Lehner, Treasurer Beverly Palm That year Mary Thompson came to add l1fe and lnterest to our class Now the buslness really began r f1rst project was a magaz1ne campalgn the comm1ss1on of wh1ch was d1v1ded sofso between the sen1ors and us A spaghett1 supper 1h the fall, was a success and added a substant1al amount to our treasury Next we sold programs at basketball games and earned a l1ttle Wlth the sen1ors we put on two one act plays and spllt the proflts Then came the cl1max of the year the Jun1or Prom We dec1ded on a Japanese theme 'Cherry Blossom T1me lh Japan We Pasted cherry blossoms unt1l we could almost do lt 1n our sleep but lt pald off w1th a b1g success event The spr1ng found us sell1ng refreshments at the baseball games and collecting the pro ceeds from the last 1ssue of 'Kortlightsn In June we ordered our class rlngs which we were to wear w1th pr1de the next year Whatl? Sen1ors at lastl It doesn't seem posslble Our class, s1nce Warren Peter Jo1ned us in September now numbers th1rty one plus two candrdates who we hope w1ll jo1n us before the end of the year For th1s our last year we chose the followlng off1cers President Joy Street, V1ce Presldent Arthur Turnler, Secretary Beverly Palm Treasurer Karen Martln We began by sponsorlng games and sell1ng refreshments School Pa1r Day By th1s t1me our long ordered class r1ngs had arr1ved Then came our annual magaz1ne campa1gn which we won by a small margln The commlsslon from th1s project wh1ch was d1v1ded 70130 between the jun 10I5 and us, proved a needed boost to our treasury We have sold refreshments at soccer and basketball games held three bakesales sold lssues of 'Kortl1ghts', and sponsored two dances The Senlor Play, 'Professor How Could You' was a great f1nanc1al as well as drama tic success In December we held a Chr1stmas bakesale 1D the stores We plan to have bake sales after the com1ng P T A meetlngs also Our b1g event of the year the Sen1or Ball on December 27 was a grand affalr w1th 'The North Pole' as a theme By usrng a llttle economy along w1th v1v1d 1mag1nat1on, we managed to create a dellghtful ball room and st1ll make prof1t of S85 For February 4 we are plann1ng a spaghett1 supper wh1ch we hope w1ll be b1g a success as our last one was In the spr1ng we w11l sponsor another dance and w1th the junlors two one act plays to make certaln of ample funds for our long anticlpated tr1p to Washington D C We w1sh to espec1ally thank Mrs Moore whose 1nterest and adv1ce have gu1ded us through th1s most 1mportant year of our school career We w1ll always look back at our Alma Mater w1th pr1de and respect and trust that she w1ll prove as great a frlend to others as she has been to us 6 . . .
