The many thrilling plays and outstanding performances will be recalled for many years to come. ln the final AP Grid Poll the Wolves were ranked third in the state, be- hind only Olympia and Pasco ithere willalwaysremain a solid core of believers who insist that the Wolves ranked second to no one in the entire state.l By winning the Jamboree title on September l8, the Wolves gave warnipg to the opposition. ln the first period the Wolves defeated Bainbridge, l2-0, and then returned to defeat Central Kitsap 6-O, in thefinale. Mel Yingling, Jess Robins, and Dicl Poyseno scored for the Wolves. The highlight of the season come the following week when the Wolves broke a ten year iinx and defeated Bremerton, l2-6. Billy Baxter recovered a fumble in the end zone for one touchdown, and with five minutes left in the game Jess Robins took a Wildcat punt and ran 46 yards for the winning touch- down. Port Townsend furnished the first Olympic league victim for the Wolves by a score of 33-7. Mel Yingling scored the first two SK touchdowns. Dick Payseno scored twice and Robins once. Jess Robins scored on try-for-point and John Walrner, two.
