C. Knowles now embraces seven grade schools. three nurseries, three kindergartens. three junior primary schools. and a junior- senior high school. VVith an increase in student enrollment of over twentv-five per cent. many more classrooms were added to house the in coming tide of students while the search for additional teachers continued through the vear. A new idea just recently adopted by this public school system was the cafeteria project with home economics expert. Nliss l.ucille Nix. in charge, Meals are now served in almost everv school in the dis- trict at much greater economy and effi- eiency. Another vital department. that of the maintenance division with Mr. James Bowers in charge. did the upkeep work and repairs for all the district schools. An interesting example of cooperation he' tween school officials and students was hrought to note last summer when fifteen Kitsap boys worked full time on the district maintenance crew. Many junior and senior boys continue their physical training as P. E. assistants and by turning out for body- building sports such as football. basket- ball. baseball. track. and tennis. Right: The marking of a hem holds the rapt attention of these members of a sewing class. Every junior high girl takes home economics, and advanced classes in tailoring, meal planning, and specialty food preparation are available for senior high girls. Assisting either Miss Jacobson or Miss Cory with over crowded groups is a familiar example of volunteer student helpfulness. .WNY Xl l,XCOl5SCJN-lloini l nt mics I ll QORY Home l conomics Q00 ng Q-rpliomoru Class .Mlvistir 0 'Xl XX 'N XRD X l l N RC District and High School Ath 'vriq Sliperviwr 0 Sl l Nl R lxk lNSl XNIJ l'lm si il ldu ilu lootlwill linker A and 'l ratk Coach, lettcrintn s F uw x l Y Health Physical l' uca 'M-n C X X ll mu wg if Y? Yue President .ind Xlr Klttvslsenc v,5Q.,,., r SLNIORS Successfully rounding the bend of their last high school year. the N345 graduating class is prepared to talte its place in the world of today. Despite present conditions each senior will retain some aspiration he has looked forward to go through high school and which he hopes to accomplish in his future life, Reviewing briefly the outstanding epics of their senior year a passing parade of parties. games, fads. assemblies, the class play, Best Foot Forward, arrival of the Skuhkum, and the 4'VJinter XVonderland Senior Ball all helped enliven the more commonplace assignment of study. Violating precedent, class elections were held each semester thus enabling more students to hold office although some were reelected. Another unusual occurrence of the year was the outcome of scholastic honors. Two students, Adrian Olsen and Henry Muyskens, Jr.. tied for valedictorian, something which had never happened before in the history of the school. The final climax was reached with baccalaureate and commencement, May 27 and May 31. respectively, when this graduating class departed from the life at Kitsap to see for them- selves what the tomorrow had in store XRWSTROINK FSH nnrra fours' O llA.R'N 1 llll N 1 nc- our 1- 1 m I 5 11 ll I zrf- f our 1' O lil HN1 lllA'N r1-p f mr 'rom as omm m n 1 Ns: 'x , 1 ff 1111.1 Mm, an H Annua S a 4 lil ST lDOROlHl 'X 1-ner-nl I ur r O lll 'BTUL RU 1, r H0 I Agn ulturc Dm Sl fl 'Nl Jll'Nl RI N omrnerflal nurse nv V111 n ax vm rx Drama Club 4 I HROW IN FD RID 1 1 r nur 1' 0 lla ke a 1-tu-rmvn 1 lmltvrme 5 l 4 lkarnnal 5 O HRYANT l'l.l.AlNORf' 11 N 1 s 1 R 11111151 encra our A' O fHRlQ n1r1 ur 1' O CIOQQQ l DR ID Pn mxrw- I KOMS -K IISO Cullegr rep 1 sttmrnrn 'lor x I F 1 mn om r 1' s T Club xr 1 11 0 x rc n S A XX SHXXX NXIJIINI fu 1, ep fmrr 1' Hell Lu er 'an A 4 Studs-ut Bodx 1-1 'xnnuan Stan 4 O YROSHX -KRDON XX K ummrr ual our 1' lour 1' 4 S 1-n1-ra nurse DA. SECOND ROW: I.aVerne Simpson. secretary: George Wall, vice- president: Mr. Wynn-Jones and Miss Morris. JUNIORS Emerged from the throes of a chaotic sophomore year, bewildering period of senior high life. the new juniors entered this fall a little the wiser and certainly the more capable. Milestones marking the passage of this memorable year were monuments in themselves to members of the junior class. Many wondered if ever again there would be a Junior Prom equal to that of the gay spring-time formal, which was created in April, featuring a Dutch motif or a play so funny as the rollicking production, June Mad, starring a junior cast. To them it was fun, every minute of clean- up, committee work, clamoring class meetings, evening rehearsals. and all the other small odds and ends of social doings that constituted the bulk of junior class activity. Bidding adieu to the good times of the past term leaves the juniors only a passing regret Awaited with eager anticipation is the forthcoming year packed full with unexpected events, added responsibili-- ties, new friends, and above all. the time to unleash unified leadership ability in the capacity of--future seniors. 1 JUNIODS IIRSI ROW' left tn rnglmt .I Bodle.
