MUSIC BAND And tn the year 1942 to tart a successful ITIUSIC year the band played for the teache rn trtute m Bremerton held 1n September Amounttng to loads of fun was the performrng at all football games student body a semblres and the marchlng down town The brggest event before the Sprmg Concert and Musxc Festrval was the excur ron to Bothell of the band along wxth 200 students ORCHESTRA Among the many preces wh1ch the orchestra played th1s year the most out tandmg and most drffrcult was the Ioseph Hayden Number ll Symphony They played for all dramatxc performances and for other school actrvrttes Thls IS the fxr t year 1n K1tsap that Mr Benson has had a complete and co operatrng orchestra Shlrley Warner concert mlstress recelved a superlor at the solo contest held 1n Tacoma Mr Benson IS one of the schools busiest teachers for he not only has charge of all he tnstrumental musxc here but gtves prrvate lessons and also drrects the town band CHOIR Though small the chorr had a successful year glvlng concerts for the Veterans at Ret ll and part1c1pat1ng IH the Chrxstmas program and IH the Sprlng Concert and Festrval The cholr played host th1s year to Sllverdale Poulsbo Balnbrldge and the Harper grade school at the all county music festival ln addrtron to her many dutles at school Mrs Carlson grve prlvate lessons and leads the cholr of the Port Orchard Chr1st1an Church PEP BAND Pep was grven th1s year at the basketball games by the Pep Band under the drrectron of Cec1l1a Frank BATON TWIRLERS The baton twrrlers performed between games durmg the basketball season and marched down town wlth the band At mld year Gale Halverson took over the leadersh1p of the group They accompamed the band to the mstrumental meet at Poulsbo where they twxrled at the even1ng performance AGNES CARLSON EDWIN BENSON Vocal lnstrumental s rs s , . , 3' s ' s , . . s , , , . . , .
