XX'e shall always bear in mind that his first concern was our Common welfare. He had a personal interest in each of us - in our joys and sorrowsg in our hopes and aspirations, No single individual has been more responsible for our success and happiness during our school life. Therefore. in grateful appreciation of his thoughtful leadership we take pride in dedicating this book to Mr. james D. Yet we cannot but come to the conclu- sion that the past four happy years at S. K. have helped to make us more understanding, respectful, and intelligent Americans. XVe know that the prob- lems of the troubled future are our problems. XVe know, too, that we have received an adequate prepar' ation for the duties that lie before us. Our Junior Prom Queen, Nancy has be- come one of the most popular members of out class through het friendly and tactful manner. She is our class secretary, Assis- tant Editor of the ANCHOR, and a loyal worker on the REBEL. Nancy is able to maintain high marks besides holding a part-time job. lndustrious and co-operative, Nancy's ambition is to serve mankind as a nurse. VIOLA ANN ALMEIDA Uwfitbout lore and laughter were lt no jug. ln the midst of carefree laughter, we find petite Viola, a merry girl with a beam- ing smile for everyone. A conscientious worker, she is always ready with a helping hand. Viola's enthusiasm for sports is chiefly centered around softball. Her hobby, knitting, and her job as a part-time tele- phone operator consume much of Viola's spare time. ALICE BELKNAP ARNOLD Tell me, wha! if rormu'.9 One of the liveliest members of our class, Alice with her quick wit is con- stantly surrounded by laughing friends. Her lovely voice will long be remembered by the Glee Club. Alice's willingness and industrious manner have made her a wel- come member of the Retail Selling Club, for she is always on hand to help at all the games. ETHEL MARIE BANNISTER All who joy would :vin mm! rhare il: Happinerr um burn a tum. The echo of Ethel's laughter will live long in the classrooms and corridors of S.K. Het friendly disposition and pleasant manner have made her a jolly and sociable companion. A commercial student, Ethel has been a member of the Glee Club, the Knitting Club, and the Photography Club. His ready grin tells us that he is always ready to share in good fun. Her fun-loving ways make her a friend to all, Tina has belonged to the Dramatic Club and the Photography Club. Her love of the out-of-doors is shown in her outstanding ability as a skater and a swimmer, BARBARA ANN BRIGGS What sunshine is to flozrefr, rmiler are to bunzmzilyf' Barbara, the petite brunette with a win- ning smile, has been an active member of the Baton Corps. Through her ambitious work in 4-H, she was awarded a trip to Chicago this year. Barbara has excelled in her business training, and with this back- ground and her pleasing personality she will succeed in secretarial work. LUCILLE GERALDINE CALITRI Softly Jpeak ana' .trveeily rmilef' Soft brown eyes and a winsome per- sonality have won Lucille many friends. Her gentle manner has made her a wel- come member in class activities. Lucille's many interests include sewing and dancing. Capable and well-groomed, Lucille plans to become a hairdresser after graduation. Last. year Marion won a trip to Chicago for her -4-H project in home improvement. Active in the Mariners, she has also participated in the Knitting Club and the Glee Club, MARY TURNBACH CARR They are proud in humility. Although a quiet member of our class. Mary participates in many school activi- ties. She is active in the lirench Club, the REBEL, and is also Production Co-Editor of the ANCHOR, A good student and a diligent worker, Mary is always on hand at SK. games, showing her enthusiastic school spirit. Her exuber- ant laugh continually creates merriment among her many friends. A person of many talents, she has belonged to the Knitting Club and the Glee Club. Wu and uisdom are horn uith the man. Tall, handsome Eddie has been our class treasurer for four years. His personality. wit, and clever impersonations have always kept us in a jovial mood. A member of the Dramatic Club, Eddie had a leading part in the play A Date with Judy in his junior year. He is interested in sports and may be seen at all S.K. games. Sailing. ice skating, and a part-time job are only a few of Eddie's many interests. KENNETH WILLIAM COOK, JR. A life without a pufpme ir a rhip without a rudder. With the roar of a stock car, the toot of a horn, and the screeching of brakes, Kenny announces his arrival at school. Tall, dark and good looking, Kenny is a smooth dancer and a pleasant companion. As a J.V. football player in his sophomore year, he helped to make the team a suc- cess. Ken has followed the aggie and voca- tional courses which should aid him in the future. JOHN JOSEPH CRONIN Q1zietr1er5 if heart. A quiet, well-liked member of the class. -lack has won many friends during his three years at S.K. His job as a lifeguard at Scarborough during the summer gives him ample time for his hobby, which is playing the uke. An enthusiastic sports fan, jack is also an excellent ice skater. Mary, with her sweet face and shy smile. never lacks a friend. This petite miss was our class secretary during her freshman and sophomore years. An excellent student, she has participated in French Club, the REBEL, and the ANCHOR. Mary is gracious. charming, and always a lady. His easy- going nature and friendly manner have won him many friends, An athletic classmate, he plays both basketball and baseball and is Sports Editor of the ANCHOR. Versa- tile ,loe is a capable, conscientious student and a gentleman. DIANE HELEN DESLEY A true ffiend if the greater! of all bleuingrf' Diane, one of our ellicient classmates, is a conscientious member of the REBEL staff. She enjoys sports and plays basket- ball. A cheerleader for two years, Diane is also the secretary of the Retail Selling Club. Near and well-groomed, she is an amiable companion. ROBERTA DeWOLF Both trire. and delighlful mo. Roberta's quiet manner may fool many people, but we know her as a fun-loving companion. Petite and pretty, she is always willing to lend a helping hand. Her scholastic record is the envy of many, and her outstanding ability as a pianist has won her several honors. She is also a mem- ber of the REBEL staff and Literary Co- Editor of the ANCHOR. Not only is she the Art Co-Editor of the ANCHOR but she is the winner of a two-years' scholar- ship in art. We know that-Pat's person- ality and gracious manner will help her to achieve her goal in life. MARGARET ,IEANETTE DONELLY A failhful Irion! is the nzetlicimf of life. Peg is a quiet, cheerful girl who enjoys reading and is skilled in needle-work. Un- affccted and amiable, she is a loyal friend. A welcome member of the Knitting Club, Peggy finds time to participate in many class activities. With her fine business hack- ground. Peggy is looking forward to a career in the commercial held. i 'S AK'- nw ROSEMARIE EARLY Mode1ty ir the citadel of beauty and of virtue. Rose's sincerity and diligence have made her a welcome assistant in all class activi- ties. She has shown her ability by rising from the junior varsity cheering squad in her sophomore year to co-captain of the varsity cheerleaders. A member of the queen's court at the junior Prom, Rose's unaffected manner makes her a friend to all. CHARLOTTE LORRAINE EMERY Sober, Jteadfarl, and demuref' Gay Charlotte is always chattering and laughing with her many friends. A sports enthusiast, she enjoys basketball, baseball, and tennis. Another of her major interests is reading, at which she spends much of her spare time. lndustrious and easy-going, Charlotte is a pleasant companion. JOAN ELIZABETH FERRARE 'Exuberance it beauty. Diminutive Joan, one of our cheerlead- ers, came to us in her junior year from St. Xavier's Academy. Her bubbling per- sonality, ready wit, and explosive giggle have done much to brighten our days at S.K. A prominent member of the com- mercial course, joan is a true friend and easy companion. WILLIAM FREDERICK FORBES Minh, with thee I mean tn life. With his happy-go-lucky ways and mis- chievous nature, Billy is liked by all. An avid fan of the New York Yankees, Bill refuses to believe that any other team could win the World Series. As a member of the football squad during his junior year, Billy has shown his dependability. FLORA VANCESSIA GARVIN True bappinen ir of a retired nature. With her friendly smile, Vannie has won a place in our hearts. Active in the Mariners, she also participated in the Glee Club, the Knitting Club, and the Pho- tography Club. Vannie's chief interest out- side of school is in travel. After gradu- ating she would like to enter nursing or train to be a beautician. 1, fx., ' -.W --'WX KENNETH EDWARD GREENE The man that lover and laugh: must do well. Kenneth is another of '52's happy-go- lucky members. His good-natured grin and easy-going disposition have made him an amicable classmate. Ken is an active mem- ber of the Sea Scouts and has belonged to the Drum and Bugle Corps for three years. After graduation, Ken plans to join the Navy. WALTER LEO GREENE, JR. od' To lore the game heyoml the prize. Walt, who was a member of the varsity football team in his sophomore and junior years, is full of the pep and vigor that characterize an athlete. He is well-liked and has a great sense of humor and an exuberant personality. A lover of sports, Walt may be seen cheering for his Alma Mater at many of S.K.'s sports encounters. DAVID HORNER GULVIN Sigh no more. ladies, Jigh no more. Dave is that tall, blond, good-looking senior, hurrying down the hall. Alert and capable, he has been Sports Editor of the REBEL for the past two years. An ardent Cardinal fan, he plays baseball both for S.K. and in his leisure time. Business Manager of the ANCHOR, Dave is tact- ful, ambitious, and friendly. DAVID GIRLING HALL The reward of a thing well done ir to have done ir. Dave, Editor-in-Chief of the ANCHOR, is a good natured fellow with ambitious ways. He was class president during our freshman and sophomore years and won a Science Fair award in his sophomore year. A sports enthusiast, Dave has been man- ager of the football team and is a loyal supporter at all S.K. sports events. CAROLYN BEATRICE HAZARD I am wealthy in my friends. Carolyn is tall, well-dressed, and attrac- tive. She is always surrounded by friends enjoying her sense of humor, and het fine voice makes her a welcome member of the Girls' Glee Club. A lover of sports, she may be seen at all S.K. games. Carolyn, a good student, is also a member of the literary staff of the ANCHOR. JANE ELLEN HILLIARD Wit maker itr own welcome and level: all divination. Jane's pleasant manner and sparkling conversation make her the center of attrac- tion. Maintaining a high scholastic record, she is one of the most ambitious members of our class. Jane has been an active par- ticipant of the REBEL staff, the Baton Corps, the ANCHOR, and 4-H. After graduation she hopes to fulfill her ambi- tion by entering the nursing profession. l J 1 MARJORIE LOUISE HOLLAND A merry bear! goer all the day, Margie, one of our most avid tennis players, can always be seen in the spring season practicing after school. A lover of all sports, she especially likes to play basketball. Cheerful Margie, an enjoyable classmate, was a participant in the Debat- ing Club in her freshman year. An ardent sports fan, Owie has played both football and baseball. Besides being interested in school affairs, he also par- ticipates in many extra-curricular activities. We will always remember Owen for his incessant talking and mischievous ways. JOYCE ANN JENCKS Silence ir more eloquent than u'0rd.r. A quiet and likable senior miss, Joyce has been a loyal member of the Girls' Glee Club. She is active in church affairs and in her spare time especially enjoys reading. Anne Taber, Marion Carpenter, Mitzi Stauffer, and Allen Smith went to Chicago in November for outstanding work in 4-H. Another event of this month was the selection and ordering of our class rings. Our class sponsored a food sale in january, Vir- ginia Southwick was chosen as chairman, This sale was a great success and yielded a considerable sum for our treasury. The annual S. K. Pades was held on April I4 with james Signorelli as chairman. A On October 29 we presented the Halloween Hoot at Fagans Hall. David Gulvin was chairman of this dance which was a big success. Our class played an important part in publishing the school newspaper, with james Norman as Editor- in-chief.
