Volleyball When told he was the new volleyball coach, Gary Mahoneyts first reaction was, uDo we have any good players'. After the first practice he realized that the team had some weaknesses, but they were potentially good. Although in the beginning the team did not know how to line up correctly on the court, with prac- tice they improved one hundred percent The volleyball team worked for perfection through- out the season as Gary Mahoney coached the team to earn a thirteen win and two loss record in regular sea- son play. The team placed third in the city tournament after defeating Gresham. Joan Colson and Allene Chapman were selected to the All-Tournament team. Boyst Basketball Team After losing the first game to Christenberry, the team rebounded with a 19-36 victory over Gresham. Coach Mahoney expressed his viewpoints about the team by stating, ttWe had a lot of people who had never played basketball before, and it took us a while to become con- sistent.
