This year, my staff took me to the days which were known as carefree, funliving, and evolutionary life. With me in mind, they bo-do-dee-o-doad their way through the halls taking odd, but interesting pictures of you. They trained their fingers to damce the Charleston on the fggtypewriter keys and all my writing was done. Listening to that Kigpicrazy jazz music of senior voices yelling, Oh no, pictures were deliefyere chosen for ny first fourteen pages. Then I watched classes ,gy gfqbunny-hopping their way into the music room to have their pictures 5 taken, just for mel wi Wondering why people were so concerned about my success, I Sf- learned that I am one of the keys to the remembrance bi? the wonderful days you had at South Junior. S ' ,L A f H' As we look back through our scrapbook of the good old days, we remember the football game in which Crazy Legs B adley scored the winning touchdown against Hot Shot Thompsons Be Bop Boys. On the 50 yard line watching bundled in their raccoon coats and Flairing Banners were Andrea DiCamdllo, Jerry Haloni, assisted by cheerleader Laurie Welch. Mingling through the crowd selling pop and peanuts were Jogn D'Anna, Mark Pettit, John Longhine, and Rock Vartanian. By the way, they are part owners in the Labatts pop agency. Befo e the game we caught a glimpse of Dennis Scouler making out with ticket taker, Carol Nalbons, and later walking in free with his fan club, Roger Mort and John Galbo. Turning the page we remember the boxing match in which Battling Scalzo fought a ten round bout against Furios Federico over Bob Juron. Tom Jarzab, one of the prohibition leaders, was sitting at ringside with a barrel of plasma, a quart of water, and a crate of bandages. Some of the famous fight fans were Swivel Hips Longo, Ritsie Bongiorno, and Cool Cat Spinley. As we look on, we remember that Stony CPunohyJ left early with his psychiatrists, Mary Lou Chicelli, and Elena Santoro. The gangs favorite hangout was sparkling LasVegas and who was e ceeing but our old friend, Sam Cthe manl Vartanian introducing the four peasants, B. Fitzgerald, E. Bell, W. Johnson, and G. Powell. This was the day that manager Chuck Fowle fired bubble dancers Diane M lczarski, and Sharon Jessup, bicause of their flirtations with Toni Finelli, Larry DeLong, and Jimmy Cardamone. Replacing them as Bubble Queens were Daring Nancy Bloom, Susan Keck, and Neva Rizzuto. Band leader Nick Ligammari is featuring a Dance-a-ton at Garvy Gardens. On one side of the hall we see the Hdhdefashionedn dancers trying to do the Minuet. to the Saint Louie Blues. On this side we see Lenore Elstrodt Scream- ing that no one has the beat anymore and Annette Delorenzo, Paul Blair and Jeff Incorvia are telling her that it's because the new generation is too rambunctious. Running down Nhe street we remember seeing lifeguard Doris Laughlin and learning of am accident at the pool. It seems that at Joyce Mitchels swim ing pool party there was an Underwater Charleston contest and honest joe Andrea Morello and Mike Smith won by cutting Shaaron Settim us and Flapper Footed Davy's air hose. Pulling the two water logged losers from thelymter were the judges Larry Britton, William Grace and Baby Face Barber. x we turn the page of our memory album and see a picture of Phil Laurenzi's State Hospital where Babbling Bernat still thinks some teadher in a straight - jacket is after her for not getting some book together on time. In the next cell is Cockeyed Kranitz who can't refrain from saying Wand now ladies and gentlemen.U Boy we don't envy doctors Joyce Black and Mary Denitto who are trying to cure these long lost- yeah long lost. lcontinued -+- ALBERTS, AMCRBTTI, WILLIAM BARBARA The Invlncable Babs ARICO, ANTONUCCI, JOB Butch BEACH, NANCY Nan BARBER, ,Y BARNS, ELTON A Q , GLCRIA A Al Jeanie with the Alfance light brown hair D M BISHARA , JAY Clair ol Charlie GILDA Dolly BEBROSLAN, MARGE Short Stuff JZ , M f j A A ', rv : sf A- A A PN fi, 1 A1 A x f 'R 5 Q A AA , .AA f aw., A A A .. Going into Klientjes! studios we see that Russell Disparti is directing a picture staring Gonna Madziak, and Pamela 'LaChance as war refugees. Playing opposite them as Japanees spagetti vendors are Vincent Jarocz and Gerald Loblond, going into props department, we see those two jolly Janices, Soluri and Hunt, building a boat for Barbara Juneuera and Michel Guadno for their new picture NTarzannessn As we flew back home and after that eventful trip we passed Carl Fiori's mission where Frances Tedesco and Alberta Borgese are cannonizing a new saint of the year Marge Bedrosian. Closing the book we read the inscription on the inside cover: Our friend- ships will never end no matter how we turn out. ,, Q. . a tt.7l .,.,, r.,.: H - ik., ? 41511. is --'s5'.:f::f1iil'3g-4331nie-fi if 11 ,, ., .. .. - eff i TEE 'if 1, -X f - were . 3 M 1' 1: if iff f ? -23- 7 y q, e .ts my ' , ,,,, , ,. Officers this year were: Richard Davey, president William H adley, vice- presidentg Andrea DiCami1lo, Secretaryg and Shirley Federico, treasurer. During the past year the Honor Society has had two inductions, a pot luck supper, and it lead a Christmas basket drive for the needy families of Niagara Falls. Due to the sincere efforts of all concerned both affairs were successful. Amoung the many contributions to meet the needs of the student body is the ever faithful supply store. The Honor Society, like all worthwhile organizations, helps to build with success a stronger person, a better school, and a finer community. -59- HCWS The Blazer staff of 1959 boop-boop-be-dooed their way in stripes and plaids to another succesful year. Their blazer edito , Shaaron Settixni led the collection and publishing of South Junior news. The staff advisor, Mr. Molyneux, always of course donning his slightly worn straw hat and pin stripped jacket provided the necessary instructions and finishing touches for our newspaper. This year's co-editors were Doris C Turkey Trottj McLaughlin and Pamela CBlack Botteml LaChance. Now as time moves up to the 20th Century, we leave our faithful? dedicated? patient? repo ters with their eye shades, cuff protectors, and stubby pencils to the busy p ofessio of setting fo th the WBlazerW. The newly formed science club, with the intention of promoting a better science background and a knowledge of the promising careers in science, have taken part in many interesting projects, including visits to nearby plants and factories. With M s. Oar tenth graders had a battle for the City Championship that will never be forgotten. It was a last second basket , scored ne the opposition that lost the game for us. It was this type of struggle during the entire season that placed the seventh and tenth grades in second, and our eighth and ninth grades in third place. , Q. we -w:f 1fL -:if Hi-?M'esnf of-::r'E?1.
