The Trojans were led Throughout the year by Tri-Captains Dement, Kennedy and Lewis. stripe cup evnzoywe to-v ln Their second district game The Trojans tangled with the Brazosport Exporters, The number Three ranked team inthe state. Although The shippers were heavy Tavorites, The Trojans were high with a lot oT spirit. The Trojan oTTense dominated The Tirst half with a ball-control Type of oTTense which produced a Touchdown by fullback Bert Pidcoke. The PAT was good and The score was 7-O. The Shippers caught The Trojans oTT guard with a quick Touchdown and The score read 7-7. ATter a long Shipper punt return, The Trojan defense held on The teneyard line, so The Shippers settled Tor a Tield goal and The score read TO-7. The second half proved only to be a deTensive battle. When The game ended, The Trojans were deep in Exporter territory Threatening to score. Outstanding on offense were Bert Pidcolce and Johnny Lewis. 'nuUANQFMmuWAWAMARQUE1442 The Trojans, trailing by l3 points and all but flattened by a rugged LaMarque de- fense, came to life in the fourth quarter to pass and ram across two touchdowns and win their first l2-4A clash, l4-l3. The Tigers first counter came in the second quarter after Lalvlarque gained posses- sion at the Trojans 29 following a short punt. After two plays the Tigers rammed it over from the l l-yard line and the PAT was good. The second tally came from the Trojan 42- yard line on an end run by the quarterback. The PAT failed. Sparked by quarterback Don Moon and Bert Pidcoke, l7O-pound fullback, the Tro- jans drove from their own 43 to the first tally and ripped off 44 yards, after taking over on downs, for the winner. The educated toesof 230-pound tackle Wayne Adams, who kicked both extra points, spelled victory for the Trojans over the previously undefeated Tigers. T12-QJANQ QI-IOOT DOWN DEER 27-7 After a first quarter touchdown by Deer Park, South Houston blasted to a 27-7 victory over the Deer Park Deer to give the Troians their second district T2-4A win. The Trojan defense somewhat bewildered, fastened their chin straps for what seemed to be a long game. The Trojans came back quickly in the second quarter with a one-yard lunge by Jim White. The PAT was good and the score stood 7-7. The next Troian tally resulted from an end sweep by Don Brogna. The PAT again was good, and the score read T4-7. At the end ofa fine drive Rick Lindberg got the call on a crucial fourth down play and plunged over for the score. The PAT failed and the score showed 20-7 With the same machine-like precision, the Trojan line led Moon to a fourth quarter TD. The PAT was good. The final score was 27-7. The offensive unit was led by Moon, White, Lindberg, Brogna, and Archer.
