The Tro- jans fought hard to come out on top, but too many mistakes proved to be the cause of the defeat. The Trojan offensive unit worked with precision be- tween the twenty yard lines, but every time they crossed the twenty either a fumble or big loss of yardage would stop the drive. Byron Archer j82j goes high for only Trojan touchdown The Buffs scored first on a three-yard plunge up the middle. The PAT was blocked and the scoreboard showed a 6-O in favor of the Buffs. In the second quarter the Trojans evened up the tally with quarterback Don Moon passing a twelve-yard pass to right end Byron Archer, who caught the ball in the midst of two Milby Defenders. Mike Covington led the Trojan defense the second half, but the Trojans saw the game slip through their hands when Milby completed a third quarter touchdown pass which covered TO yards. The PAT was again blocked, and the game ended in a T2-6 victory for the Buffs, nw-wr. This unfortunate Buff is met by a host of Trojan defenders, including Archer j82j, Lewis jT2j, and Miller lol

Don Moon ll ll heads for first down. 'nuUANQFMmuWAWAMARQUE1442 The Trojans, trailing by l3 points and all but flattened by a rugged LaMarque de- fense, came to life in the fourth quarter to pass and ram across two touchdowns and win their first l2-4A clash, l4-l3. The Tigers first counter came in the second quarter after Lalvlarque gained posses- sion at the Trojans 29 following a short punt. After two plays the Tigers rammed it over from the l l-yard line and the PAT was good. The second tally came from the Trojan 42- yard line on an end run by the quarterback. The PAT failed. Sparked by quarterback Don Moon and Bert Pidcoke, l7O-pound fullback, the Tro- jans drove from their own 43 to the first tally and ripped off 44 yards, after taking over on downs, for the winner. The educated toesof 230-pound tackle Wayne Adams, who kicked both extra points, spelled victory for the Trojans over the previously undefeated Tigers. On offense outstanding were Don Moon, Mike Lott and fullbacks Rick Lindberg, Bert Pidcoke and Johnny Lewis. ., yr! ,,,:kV ,ji ig' if i 5 N. ,, W' .Qu 5 31 4 ' 3 M H A 15, 3,33 fu A T wwe.: K . 41515 -lfj f .
