One member of the senior class was not present at graduation. He was Maurice “Chan Hayes, last year, the senior class lost Chan in an automobile accident in Colorado. Chan was a number one guy in almost everything he did. Chan's musical talents were extraordinary. He could play a large variety of iddition to f instruments and he possessed a wonderful voice as well. In addition to his musical talents, Chan was an exceptional student who took many academic courses. More than just a friend, he was available whenever was a lany ? anyone needed someone to talk to. One of Chan’s dreams was that one day all his friends would become Christians and start attending church where he could fine tune his talents and on a regular basis. Chan planned to attend Murray State University, combine his music and preaching gifts to serve the Lord and hav have fun at the same time. Ja The Chan Hayes Memorial Scholarship was established to fulfill one of Chan’s goals in life students. The scholarship will be given to a deserving band member annually. .
