He has held this position here at South Hopkins High School for eleven years. Mr. Dunning has always been a strong enforcer of discipline here at South Hopkins, but he has also been a friend to the teachers and students. This has been Mr. Burgett's first full year as Vice Principal at South Hopkins High School. Mr. Burgett became Vice Principal last year when Mr. Lanny Woodard resigned his position as Vice Principal. Lonnie Burgett Vice Principal We can see that Mr. Dunning is really hard at work. He is taking a few minutes to go over the program for Baccalaureate. Cafeteria Personnel Bean, C. Allen, P. Smith, K. A lot of hard work was put into this banner which was taken to the Heart concert and displayed by John Bedwell and Chris Oglesby. Check out the graffiti in the yearbook room!! This work of art was created by Julia Kiscaden and Kevin Clark. The Senior Class Officers of 1986 are as follows: Historian — Paula Berry, Secretary — Julia Kiscaden, President — Willie Gunn, Vice President — Chris Oglesby, Treasurer — Barry Hudson. Kelly Gerzan is pictured here sitting in the main hall doing one of the tasks which is typical for seniors. Gradu- ation announcements must be ordered in advance to insure arrival by graduation. 9 Jason Craig Abbott Patricia Gail Baize Darrin Ray Browning Cami Krea Cabaniss John Patrick Bedwell John Bloodworth James Edward Browning Tony Alan Carlton Come on ref, open your eyes! coutiyQpi£i Eugene Dukes Jr. Torey Kelvin Earle 11 Lance, I didn't know you were a Lifeguard. Todd (Road Warrior) Blakeley and Dar- rell (Super D) Lyle bake this scrumptious looking cake and now they are entering the Betty Crocker Bake Off. Here are some of our graduating seniors Chris Oglesby, John Bedwell, and Mike Gordon. Everyone say BIG GOOFY! The latest fad and trend for boys at South this year was crew cuts, flat tops, and the Road Warrior look. It is a comeback for these hair styles. These hair styles were also popular during the 1950s. Modeling their haircuts are Dwayne Carroll, Tommy Woodward, Wayne Rogers, Mitchy Cotton, John Osborne, Chris Harris, and Jason Adamson. Glen Shoulta is beckoning us to come and talk to him as he is anxiously waiting for World History Class to begin. It's just been found out that Mrs. Bourland is moonlighting at Long John Silvers. Rumors have it that she is thinking of giving up her teaching career and entering the fast food chain. 25 Shown here lounging in the Art room, these students are taking a break from working on their current projects for one of many art shows South enters. Mr. Love, South Hopkins favorite Art teacher, revealed his true identity on Halloween. The portrait that captured the moment for eternity was done by Marty Coffman. 26 Paula Berry was caught off guard in the girls restroom brushing her hair in preparation for group photo- graphs. Glen Shoulta is revealing his battle scars from the District Tournament game against the Madisonville Morons . Nice nose-job Glen. Friendships play an important role in student life at South Hopkins. Laura Tudor and Edie Cumens are shown here sharing a private joke. What's so funny chicks? Lounging on the benches in the main hall is where many students can be found during lunch and before school begins each day. 27 Cindy Posvic is shown here in Algebra class. It seems to be more complicated than she expected. These three students posed especially for the photographer — what hams!! Freshman girls take a break during their P.E. class to work on homework assignments. The Main Hall is where everyone goes to socialize or just relax when they have free time. 28 In an effort to beautify our hollowed halls the student council paints the benches in the main hall. You missed a spot Wade Bruce. Mr. Bryant and I told this computer a thousand times to do something and it still refuses to listen. These bunch of guys are ready for school to be out so they can party- hardy every night and enjoy their summer vacation soaking some rays and drinking!!! PEPSI. Completely disguised and almost unnoticable. Mr. Love unsuccess- fully tried to go undetected throughout the day dressed like a clown. Christal Putman do you need a tissue? God Bless You! Michelle Nelson, Kelly Hancock Steve Pendley are pictured here in the Biology office. Steve, you have permission to leave class, but please hurry back. Julia Kiscaden, have you hugged yourself today? Lance hurry up, you're too heavy!! But Todd we haven't found it yet! Too much excitement definitely affects the brain. Mrs. Barbara Eicholz is shown here assisting a student in the li- brary. As librarian Mrs. Eicholz is often called on by students for her help when needed. Todd Blakely seems overly enthuised for the picture, how- ever Darrell Lyell has his mind on other important things at the time. Anthony Joseph and Danny Woodruff didn't look so thrilled to discover they were volunteered to wash all the dishes in Home Ec. Mrs. Bryant it's the computer that has the error, not my program ' replies Robert Cal- houn. Dana and Shanon Carroll show off their Colgate smiles! Kevin Pennington with a rolling pin is no laughing matter. Hey, let's blow this pop-cicle stand, quotes Chris Og- lesby along with two buddies, Michael (Flash) Gordon and John (Rock) Bedwell. Every student need to take a break every once in a while. David Gibson decided he would take a nap to escape the pressures of everyday life here at South. Obviously life at South is not all work as Steve Martin and Tommy Woodard were caught leaving the girls powder-room. Denise Greene and Crystal Putman were ab- ruptly interrupted while conversing about a student photograph. Tyla Rogers do you have a goody's headache. Well tell your headache to take a powder tell your headache to take a B.C. 33 Glenn Shoulta looks like he has stuck his nose where it didn't belong. 34 Cinnamon Roberts seems to have gotten a little wild with her makeup this morning. 16 Candles 36 During lunch hour and before school this is a usual site. Everyone congregates to socialize with their friends. Hey Da- vid who's conversation are you ease dropping on? Karen Dame and Rolf Hoijer were chosen by their classmates as Mr. and Miss Junior. Karen is a Boys Varsity Cheerleader and Rolf is interested in the media department at South Hopkins. Amy Wix shown here hiding her face in embar- rassment. Amy is dressed as a Can-Can dancer for French Club initation. She must go through initation before becoming a member. Jr. Class Officers — Historian Rusty Hurd, President Christel Putman, Secretary Amy Wix, Treasurer Millie Bowman, and David Mackey. Marcy Moore shows her school spirit at North vs. South game. Her enthusiasm was shown by the Cat Prints she had stenciled on her cheek. Come on DeAnna Gamblin we know you are up to something by that look on your face. Why don't you enlighten us all. Everyone who has taken Shop enjoys it because Mr. Menser is such a great teacher. Craig BIRD Shoulta joined South Hopkins this year from Paducah Tilghman. Hey, Craig who popped you bubble? Dwayne Carroll and Stephanie Carroll were chosen by their fellow classmates as Mr. and Miss Sopho- more for the 1985-86 school year. Watch your step Chris Harris. You know if you run too fast, Mr. Burgett will give you detention. We wouldn't want that to happen, now would we? The Sophomore class officers are as follows: Historian — Stacy Martin, Secretary — Wayne Rogers, President — Pat Bullock, Vice President — Jason Eli, Treasurer — Shawna Littlepage. This is one of the fads that has hit South Hopkins this year. Sparked by a dare of a few students, this led to the return of flattops and burrs. It seemed the fifty's look was back in style. It looks like Jeremey is the only one in this group who isn't camera shy. Dwain was too busy to pose. He was getting work done for class. Mr. and Miss Freshman, P.J.
