As the school year comes to an end and we look down the road ahead, remember who you are. You were born to succeed, not fail. You have the ability to determine your own future, with careful planning. You are capable of possessing the best things in life, which are free, but you must work for them. You have the ability to gain success, happiness and many friends. All you need do is plan and work toward these goals. No one can prevent you from doing this. You are a person with a marvelous future. DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS. I congratulate the Seniors on their accomplishments and wish them the very best. May your memories of South Hopkins High be pleasant ones, and may your future be filled with happiness and success. Lanny R. Woodward 15

Nothing is as empty as human lives that have been consumed by loneliness and gnawing regrets about what might have been. Poetry and songs have throughout the centuries echoed, in many ways, the human calamity of unfulfilled hopes and dreams. No such despair characterizes this years senior class. Seniors, you have recognized from the beginning that the high school experience overflows with friend- ships, laughter, and the unforgettable pleasures of familiarity. You have learned to respect each other; have found and cemented lasting relationships; and above all, you have learned to blend together those academic and social experiences needed for future success. Milton, the English poet, once wrote that time is the subtle thief of youth. Seniors, do not let this clockwork larceny destroy your zest; life is to short to tamper with the sweetness of moments well lived. It is my sincere prayer that you will take the future and let it be yours; face the world with confidence and make your place in it what it ought to be. William H. Dunning 14
