They may begin in small sizes but grow bigger and bigger. If we're not careful though, our dream or idea might burst just like a bubble would. But don't let it upset you, just think of something else and give it all you got! LEFT TO RIGHT: Joy Reynolds, Vicki Simms, Susan Garland, Debbi Gamblin, and Teresa Bean 16 FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION William Dunning This has been a joyful year and a tragic year that I sincerely hope will never be forgotten by any of us. The joys have been in the realization that the Lord has allowed us to live through another year. We have been blessed in that we have the ability to learn and the opportunity to attend school in the greatest country in the world. It is my hope that we, the staff at South Hopkins High School, have in some small way made a contribution to the educational development of each member of the student body. It is a pleasure to congratulate the senior class for their accomplishments and wish them much success in the future. William Dunning 18 19 TEACHING ao'oo M ' . . .ha! ha! ha!i Sylvia Gentry We interviewed our faculty to find some of their thoughts about their jobs. We received many different answers to the questions: TEACHING IS . . . 21 22 .. happiness. They say youth and laughter to the tired. They crease the corners of lips with smiles as the mind whirls back through time. Memories leak from the attic trunk and there is a longing . . . a sad longing to return. 56 58 SPIRIT WEEK A special group effort, called Spirit Week, took place during the week of District Tournaments. Each class was given a specific hall to decorate, using its own theme to promote school spirit. Freshmen theme: Bury the Rebels , Sophomore theme: It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Super Cat , Junior theme: Tomcat Kingdom , Senior theme: The Year of the Cat . The Sophomore class won the Spirit Stick for having the best decorated hall. HOMECOMING The 1976-77 Homecoming King and Queen were Mark Hardwick and Vicky Simms. In selection for the State Cheerleading Competition, the cheerleaders are judged at the District Tournament, where two squads are chosen to advance to the Regional Competition. This year, South and West Hopkins were the only two squads entering competition, so both sauads advanced to the Region. The Region was held here at South and our girls placed second to Hopkinsville, earning them a spot at Louisville in the State Competition. Pat Sperry, being second region chairman, was coordinator of the Regional Competition. V 104 The Varsity Cheerleading team took their District Title and Regional runner-up title to state this year. It took long hours of hard work and practice to get to the State Competition but were just out matched by the larger schools where gymnastics and acrobatics are part of their training. in--. rHOSE UNSUNG HEROS Girl's Varsity South 86 Grahm 22 South 66 Providence 45 South 45 Webster County 38 South 42 Paducah 39 South 69 Dawson Springs 53 South 35 West Hopkins 37 South 52 Central City 43 South 68 Livingston Central 30 South 52 Ft. F N SYAW • OUV, 157 YOU, are you, and you alone! You see yourself from within. It is a viewpoint, which all others are denied. YOU laugh, you cry, you work, you search, and only you know why. Only you, can project what you feel about, you! I cannot project your image for you. I, too, am denied that special view of your life. Only working TOGETHER, are we able to capture for a lifetime, the image that you have of yourself!
