ADVERTISEMENTS 797(5 YEARBOOK STAFF Yearbook Sponsors: Leon Sullivan Sarah Oglesby D Y E E D A 1 R C B A O T O 1 K O N afuoMeU QmjM $WMinn While I was growing up I met this boy, he would come and play with all of my toys. We used to even play together in my sand, We were closer than two peas in a pan. He was always stronger and taller than me but we stuck together like honeybees. He would always come to play any kind of ball until we got tired or his mother would call. We grew up together in so many ways sometimes we would shoot pool to pass some days, Once in awhile we would get mad and have a fight, But, we would be buddies again before night. We would always share our secrets with each other about things we wouldn't dare tell our mothers. He had so many friends and pals, and had a certain way to get all the pretty gals. He had just begun working in the mines. He was a young man who could walk the line, He had no idea that there would soon be a fall from up over his head from the top of the wall, A huge rock that would make no sound would fall, Even my friend with all of his quickness couldn't outrun the wall. Now my very best friend is dead and gone. But I’ll join him someday, it won't be long. Mike Adams 4 The Seniors of South Hopkins wish to give special recognition to Wanda Whitledge, who in her first year at South Hopkins, showed us all what a guidance counselor should be. She went out of her way to help and never slowed in her attempts to help us each to plan for ourselves. We do hereby gratefully acknowledge her assistance. WANDA WHITLEDGE IF A MAN DOES NOT KEEP PACE WITH HIS COMPANIONS, PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE HE HEARS THE BEAT OF A DIFFERENT DRUMMER. LET HIM STEP TO THE MUSIC HE HEARS NO MATTER HOW MEASURED NOR FAR AWAY. — henry david thoreau ■ Mr. and Miss '76 tammie lewis keith howard MIKE BOWLING 13 SHAWN BOYD KITTY BOWLEY AUDIE BRANDON DEBBIE BRACKETT DENNIS CARNAL BONNIE COOPER CLAYTON CAVANAUGH ROCKY CRAWFORD KATHY CLEVENGER ALAN CRICK 14 DENNIS DILLINGHAM ANN EARLE JAMES DUGGER SHERRY DUGGER CHRIS EGBERT BILLY FARMER , PROPER I V OF HOPKINS COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY 15 DORIS FARMER VICKIE FUGATE SANDRA GAMBLIN CHARLES GAMBLE ROBERT GROVES CHARLIE HAMBY REDA FULLER DENNIS GOMER LISA HARDWICK 16 CHRISTY HARVEY JACKY HOHIMER KEITH HOWARD BELINDA LEWIS DONNA MATHENY 17 debra McKinney LAURA MOORE CLYDE MAUK cindy Mcknight william McGregor LISA MOORE OWATTA MOORE WAYNE MOORE JOYCE PROFFITT CONNIE PHAUP AARON OLDHAM JIMMY PLEASANT GINGER ROBERTS DONNIE RODGERS FREDDY SMITH CARLA STEARSMAN RICKY SPAIN VIRGINIA STEARSMAN BRAD SMITH DENISE STANLEY KATHY SUTTLE 20 DEBBIE WEST JOHN THOMPSON CHERYL VAUGHT VINCENT WEST KATHY WILKERSON MIKE WOOD When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. William Dunning I feel that the foundation of every community is in its youth. The experience of having had the opportunity to work with the faculty and students of South Hop- kins High School has been a great educational experience for me. I sincerely hope in some small way that I can repay everyone for his attitude, cooperation and willingness to make South Hopkins a great high school. Box 7 White Plains, Kentucky Your friend is your needs answered. He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving . . . For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace . . . When you part from your friend, you grieve not; For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain. And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit. . . And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed. . . For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. . . 116 — Kahlil Gibran
