Scotty Parsons Principal A Challenge to the Class of 1973 Remember that some of the most remarkable people to walk the earth - your parents and grandparents - have by their work increased your life expectancy by approximately fifty percent. While cutting the work day by a third and more than doubling per capita output, they have made more progress by the sweat of their brows than the generations of any other era. They are looking to your generation to make progress in as many areas and depending on you to solve a good many of the world's remaining ills. It is my hope and the hope of these two generations, that you should be able to find the answer to many of the problems that plague mankind. But it won't be easy, and you won't do itby negative thinking nor by tearing down or belittling. You may and can do it by hard work, humility, hope, and faith in mankind. Try it. 4
