Memories 1968 South Hopkins High School Learning is gaining knowledge of the unknown. Learning is becoming skilled in an art or trade. Learning is experiencing both the bad and the good. Learning is suffering much and being rewarded. Learning is many things, but most of all it is being able to use our knowledge wisely. Debbie Welch ADVISOR: EDITORS: Mrs. Mary Lou Earle Mitchell Barnes Debbie Welch I puts white in your bite Wonder what Karen is giving us for Christmas? ... 40 points behind at the end of the first quarter and four men fouled out ... keep the faith, baby You say you have a wart on your finger? Friendship You've got a fortune? Because he has worked for and with us, because he has given generously of his time and wisdom - words are a poor substitute with which to express our sincere respect and admiration for this man. He is the Assistant Principal and a Senior Class sponsor. He voluntarily gave much ofhistimetothe Junior-Senior Prom and to other class activi- ties. Everyone respects this teacher and looks to him for advice and help. He is never too busy to stop and talk with a student or to help the school in any way he can. In appreciation for such devoted service the Senior Class proudly dedicates the 1968 Memories to Mr. Roscoe Porter. With Bowman getting 10 of the first 14 points for South on jumpers from the corner, the Tomcats controlled the boards and ripped out to a 25- 10 first period lead and never trailed at any stage of the game. Madisonville could never get any closer than 2 1. The Tomcats rolled up their biggest lead of the night midway of the second frame at 33-15 on a layup by Bowman, but Madi- sonville, led by Logan, Waddle and Davis, cut the margin to 45- n the lined final lead that ot it with ilays e the lock- out- hree n 7- die's ed in id it hout- unds Chil- thelr each. and :k up next i 12. poor from I with whUe 17 of ot 69 cent llow- y got was VSA1I iv WC tiAC loot cal’, but the boys kept their poise and got the job done. All of them did a great job. Did the Tomcat mentor have to remind his team about last year when South blew a 15-point halftime lead and lost, 71-79? No I didn’t have to remind them of it. They remembered it, Beshears added. Coach Parson said he was proud of all his Maroons. We just didn’t get out there and cover Bowman and Bruce like we should have although we didn’t figure on them hurting us that much and those two steals killed us. They played a great game and really beat us on the boards Logan and Davis did a fine job as did Tucker. SteVe didn’t setfre much, but did a tremendous job on Moore, the Maroon boss stated.
