Greg Willis of Sydney. Australia. was South Hills' outgoing foreign exchange student. He has participated in many activities this year. including joining the Husky football team as a PAT kicker. Coming from an all boy school Greg was surprised upon his arrival at South Hills. But he soon got into the swing of things by rocking out at rallies, participating in Spirit Week, but most important of all - becoming a Husky! i ,feed ,fffffffog jfwx 1, r. .. 657' 77,05 fygfb PQLXSH OHL, M7 'f0.ffS, f- fi.: as sf -- X 1 -s -ws ef to South Hills High Fellow Huskies, This year at South Hills has been to me like a dream. I have made so many friends and undergone so many experiences thatl will always remember it as one of the best times of my life: and now it is difficult to say farewell for your way of life has become so much a part of mine To all of youl would like to say thank-you for helping to make this year so special to me and for being my friends. Especially l would like to thank my American family, the Bethke's, for everything they have done for me. Even whenl return to Australial will think of you often for my mind is full of such warm memories andl would like you to understand how much you have all meant to me. Whether it was a football game, classes, lunch in the quad or one of the other activities we took for granted at the time, l am glad thatl can now sayl participated. Once again thank-you and I hope that the rest of your lives are as enjoyable as this last year has been for me. The ASB Council of 1972-1973 met on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:30 as it has for the past seven years. lt, like the councils before it, approved rallies and club projects, sponsored Homecoming and Spirit Week and in general oversaw all student activities. It did an excellent job at these traditional tasks thanks to the hard work of a few people, especially Margie Bzovy. But this year's council also sought change by expanding the students role in Curriculum, obtaining a more open campus and providing school time recreation to create a more relaxed school atmosphere. l will remember this year as one of positive change. Being ASB President has taught me alot. About students, teachers, administrators, leadership, authority, persuasion, power and impotence. change, predjudice. But mostly about myself. Thank you lVlr. Nlaruca. Thank you Stanley, John and Eddie. Thank you everyone else. So it goes, wpsifzwg . D T Danieltl. Bressleri. LQ- Y NJli!d1M,,,t3D l tim? For three years now we have been putting these books together. There is a great deal of work put into these yearbooks-making rough layouts, getting the pictures you want taken, writing and typing the copy, transferring the rough draft onto a triplicate, checking our work and sending it in. There are five deadlines to be met during the year which causes a two week chaos period for the whole staff each time. We started the year off with four returning staff members out of twenty-four, the fewest in quite a few years. The first few months were spent teaching our new staff the old techniques: they are still learning them! They tried very hard and together, we managed to produce this year's book. There are many people we would like to thank among those are the following: lVlr. Gibson, our representative from Pischell Yearbook Co., who was always there to tell us what we were doing wrong: lVlr. Kundrath. who spent four weeks in a hospital bed because we pushed so hardg lVlrs. Kundrath, for listening to all our problems and searching for the pictures we needed: and Art, for taking and developing all of the thousands of pictures we wanted. But on the top of our list is lVlrs. Evans. She has been a teacher, advisor, staff member, sympathizer and a good friend. We thank you the most lVlrs. Evans, for making our three years so meaningful and enjoyable. Thank you, Gynfwgwcfgved vmawwe wegmw, U Lynn Jackson Nlaribeth Witzlsteiner . The team received both praise and recognition from all who saw the hard-hitting players in action. Our school spirit reached its height that awe-inspiring night of the victory over rival Northview. The successful season was capped by the tie with league champ Los Altos along with our third consecutive win over Covina. This year's thrills were provided by such Stars as Don Curtis, South Hills' most valuable player and all Sierra league linebacker: All San Gabriel Valley Tackle Duncan McColl: halfback Mike Young: and defensive back Mark Ault. Competing in the toughest league in the Valley, the offensive unit finished eighth of the thirty teams. For the 1972 Huskie Squad it was a successful year - a year of team effort and outstanding individuals. and with only eight returning lettermen from the previous year. The Huskies' 5-3-1 record far surpassed all expectations. The J.V. FOOTBALL TEAM. coached by Steve Arkle. experienced a very successful season this year by capturing first place in the tough Sierra League. The offense proved to be too aggressive for the other teams. MVP Mark Gallard's running highlighted the action. The defense turned out to be the strongest in the league.
