To become a trainer one must be interviewed, have the re- quired grades, and be willing to go to summer camps. Each trainer donates about 250 hours of his time helping injured athletes participating in 26 different sports. Doc Willets explains that after three years the program can finally stand on its own because the student trainers finally understand the pro- gram and how it should be run. Trainers are people who should be thanked for their services and not taken for granted. Their helping hand is the one thing that relieves the pain and agony of our athletes. 218
