CAN THIS REALLY BE SCHOOL! JVS! What other school prepares a student for skilled work in various occupations, yet allows them to return to their home school for extracurriculum activities. The students who go there even graduate from their home high school as well as from JVS. Just think, you could have your friend in dental assistant class practice on your teeth; just make sure that she has done her homework before she begins with real life patients like yourself. If you don ' t come out of the cosmetology class looking like Miss America, remember that the JVS student is still learning to be the best. All in all, there are a lot of opportunities for those students who participate in these programs and a lot of fun to be had while they are learning their trade. Students develop skills, understanding, and positive attitudes needed for success in the world of work. JVS 43

BEHIND THE SCENES You ' re sitting in a darkened theater; the music is playing; and the curtain is about to rise on the play of the year. Everyone knows who the actors and the actresses will be and there is no doubt ab out the director or his ability. But - did you ever wonder who was working the lights, changing scenery, making costumes, or putting on the makeup? If it wasn ' t for those students who take the responsibility of making sure that all these things are done on time, the drama productions would never start on time or end with the success that has become traditional at South. These invisible people are some of the most important ones in any drama department and they are very special here at South. Most of the crew belongs to or works toward joining a special organization known as the Thespian Society. Crew members are awarded points for participation in school productions and an accumulation of points makes one eligible for spring initiation into the organization. The Thespian Society of South High consists of students who share a common interest theater. I. Mr. Lewis, Mrs. Marshall. 2. Gilbert Murray, Dan Menz. 3. Dan Menz. 4. Brian Hickernell. 5.
