NUMBER 1 SPIRIT BOOSTERS Strange things happen on the third floor of South High and Room 306 always seems to be the center of many unusual activities. Beginning in the fall and going throughout the year, students walking down the hall on game day were often confronted with towering seniors dressed in school color who demanded, Where ' s your gold and blue? These strange individuals also tried to convince people that they simply could not live without a yellow crying towl or a homecoming dance ticket. Behind these sales people were more unique individuals who remained in Room 306 making decorations for the Homecoming Dance or sorting props for the Macho Man contest. Frequently this group would also burst into a spirited cheer or a melody of love songs for Valentine ' s Day. They were totally unique and they were very special to Mrs. Deem, their adviser, and to South. Who was this strange group that dominated the third floor south and spilled out into the entire school with their enthusiasm and support? They were the SENIOR BOOSTERS, number one spirit group at South. SENIOR BOOSTERS 27

Club is fun and exciting because you get to meet people from different schools. The club was a great success this year under the guidance of Mrs. Betty Deem and Mr. Bob Kugler, who was given a plaque at the end of basketball season for the time and devotion he gave to the club. One of the most spirited groups at South was Willie ' s Fan Club, made up of young men and women who supported the athletes and coaches of South High School. In doing this they attended all home and away games, wearing club shirts to signify that they were a special group. It ' s been said many times by team members, coaches, and parents that the Fan Club with their spirit and enthusiasm pulled the teams through many tough games. S ' 1. Terri Estes.
