TOYLAND Every year the Gymnastic team and the gymkana class put together a great show which they present in late April. Each year the success of South ' s annual gymnastic show is dependent on the hard work of our gymnastists and their alumni and this year was no exception. Missy Rowland and Keith Echols did a fine job with the choreography of the dance numbers while Kevin Wright was instrumental in creating the dive routine. The almuni who return each year to perform added a special touch to the show and their routines were crowd pleasers throughout the show. Their presence gave inspiration to the comedy and special acts featured in the show. Although this performance takes a lot of time to prepare, it is a rewarding and fun way to end the year after the competition is completed.

- SINGING ' THEIR HEARTS OUT.. r p It ' s almost time for the curtain to go up. I can ' t find my robe and I know I left it right here on this chair. Is my tie straight or should I redo the whole thing? Mrs. Marshall says that it ' s time to do warm- ups and she really can ' t get started until everyone is here. These are just a few of the comments that can be hear back stage before a performance of the South High School choirs. Few people in the audience realize the last minute preparations going on behind the curtains so that the musical groups of SHS can present a quality concert for all to enjoy. The Spring Concert and the choir contest were just two of the highlights of the year for the Symphonic Choir, the Sophomore Choir and the Jazz Choir. Other activities of these groups included solo and ensemble contest, caroling in the hall of South at Christmas time, and singing for the new students and their parents at Sophomore Orientation. As if the many practice sessions and concerts were not enough to fill the time of the choir members, they also sold sausage and cheese in order to raise money for new music and other supplies needed by the group. Under the able direction of Mrs. Alice Marshall, the choirs successfully promoted the fine art of singing throughout the year. CHOIR CONCERTS 125
