KING FOR A DAY About the time of the yeaV when many people are ' glued ' to their television sets watching the crowning of various beauty queens across the country, {he student body of South turns their attention to the choosing and the crowning of the Macho Man. The Macho Man of South High School is the one male choosen because of his popularity, his talents, and his ability to appear Macho. How Macho is Macho? Well, the competition begins with a one minute disco dance routine, followed by a swim suit contest, a muscle contest, one-handed pushups, pull ups, and ankle lifts. Just to keep the contestants from becoming too Macho, the final competition consisted of timed dressings in women ' s clothes which had the entire audience rolling with laughter. Helping to make this 1981 Macho Man Contest a success were participants Magid Saba, Keith Morgan, Kevin Wright (crowded Macho Man), Anthony Rhodes, Darrell Johnson, Bud Mongold, Neil Thomas, Brian Roberts, Jerome Taylor, and Jim Barnett. A special thanks goes to the Senior Boosters and Mrs. Deem who organize and sponsor this event each year. MACHO MAN 121

TOYLAND Every year the Gymnastic team and the gymkana class put together a great show which they present in late April. Each year the success of South ' s annual gymnastic show is dependent on the hard work of our gymnastists and their alumni and this year was no exception. Missy Rowland and Keith Echols did a fine job with the choreography of the dance numbers while Kevin Wright was instrumental in creating the dive routine. The almuni who return each year to perform added a special touch to the show and their routines were crowd pleasers throughout the show. Their presence gave inspiration to the comedy and special acts featured in the show. Although this performance takes a lot of time to prepare, it is a rewarding and fun way to end the year after the competition is completed.
