— TOO MUCH CHRISTMAS The mini-theater was the place and the season was Christmas as the students of the drama department prepared to present a one-act play for the holiday enjoyment of the student body. Juanita Johnson, who played the part of Alice, stated, It was a good show and I enjoyed being a part of it. Although rehearsals had been a problem as the individual acts had to set their own schedules to work out their parts, by the time the first curtain went up, everything had been worked out and the show met the high standards set by the SHS Drama Department. Terry Phillips, who portrayed John, stated, I think the Christmas play was a success because almost everyone enjoyed it, and Carl Wilson, who played Arnold, the brother, said, I felt that it was a good experience in acting for me. All in all, the Christmas play offered something for everyone involved to the actors and actresses, it was an experience to perform and to try out new roles; to the stage crew, it was a challenge to create a set that would fit the mini-theater; and to the audience, it was an entertaining and enjoyable way to begin celebrating the holidays. SEVENTY-SIX TROMBONES On the evenings of April 9th, 10th, and 11th there was much commotion backstdge There were girls who had forgotten last minute items as well as guys who were anxiously awaiting the opening act This was the last step in the preparation of the Spring Musical. Mrs. Marshall was busily rounding up everyone for vocal warm-ups and Mr. Lewis was making last minute checks to be sure everyone knew his parts. As the auditorium was darkened for the first act and the curtain was about to rise, everyone was in their place and they knew that the Spring Musical would be a success.
