southerner staff Proofs, outlines, copy Fill journalists’ days In publishing each issue of the Southerner. stall members put iu many hours writing copy, checking proofs and performing countless other tasks in order to meet their bi-weekly deadlines. Besides producing the paper, the staff was also in charge of preparing and publishing South's student directory, the Dixie Dialer. Selling underclass pictures and compiling programs for football and basketball games were other staff activities. Helping the Southerner staff in preparing these publications was a beginning journalism class which produced many outstanding contributions. Several members of t he Southerner and Sabre staffs were recognized by Quill and Scroll, an honorary journalism society. Mrs. Alma Rogers, advisor for the Southerner, provided invaluable assistance to the stall. Sue Successful lounge Reflects cooperation Clever tasters, spirited speeches, and reminders to register before the deadline indicated elections were again under way, and Student Government would be spending many hours coordinating this close-up study of democratic procedures. Under the competent direction of Carol Dixon, election commissioner, a week of spinning confusion, tension and pleas for support climaxed with the announcement of those who had emerged victorious from the polls and would serve as class or Student Government officers for the coining year. With Mr. Lindley Cox serving as adviser, projects gave Colonels a big opportunity to practice the principles of domocracy and to learn valuable lessons in parliamentary procedure.
