Editor Marsha Cromwell draws up pages for the new student life section. sabre staff Planning sabre proves Rewarding experience The 1965 Sabre captured through photographic and written composition an important chapter of Colonel history. Through hours of planning, the Sabre staff assembled South’s largest and most outstanding yearbook. The staff received the Big-E award for its efficiency, accuracy, and the quality of material within the annual. A student life section and extra pages in homecoming, Junior-Senior Prom, and sports added interest and color. The Sabre was dedicated to the candid side of South and her students while the unusual cover made it the first South yearbook to don Reb colors. Meeting deadlines and working within a limited budget provided staff members with valuable knowledge of various aspects of yearbook journalism. Spring activities were given coverage in the Sabre supplement. Choosing suitable photographs to conform to page layouts Owen Hobson. The play concerned a group of people vacationing in an Italian ski resort at the opening of World War 111. (iuests included Quillery, a French Communist who was executed by Italian Fascists; Irene, a counterfeit Russian Countess; and Harry, song and dance man from Nebraska. Harry recognized Irene to he a former sweetheart and found himself in love with her once again. When a false passport forced her to stay while the others were evacuated, Harry decided to face death and remain with her.
